An amazing boutique property located near to the Great Parade Ground. Beautiful entrance with an inviting lobby heading to an open courtyard with a small pool. An open air restaurant and Bar with some great collection of Indian wines and Beer. The owner have taken great care of the detailing and the management rightly takes the experience to the next level with great hospitality and food. Would recommend everyone. A... View all feedback.
What Zola Christiansen doesn't like about Malabar Junction:
my visit to this restaurant was blue and to my surprise it felt more or less like a private reservation for me, as we were the only customers and I still wonder why! big ambiente, the menu had not much of varities. it was a man service, the waiting period was a little longer than expected. the taste had nothing to offer. but if they want to feed in a quiet and quiet space, this can be definitiw their place. Great food, attentive service, lovely setting and polite staff.Good wine list. Not the cheapest in Kochi but you get what you pay for including location.Staff happy to chat and advise regarding shops, transport and things in general but never pushy or extolling the virtues of a cousins shop or such like.Professional all round.
Fantastic semi open air dining in wonderful surroundings. More of a proper restaurant experience than other places on my 3rd visit in a year to Cochin, this was definitely worth being on the to visit list. Attentive service although it was quiet. Food was fantastic. Indian Wine way better than expected
I booked a table at this restaurant based solely on the menu they have on their own website. Turned up, they didn't have my reservation. But luckily the place was empty. I know realise why. Neither the wine menu nor the food menu bears any resemblance to the fancy, menu on their website. Dirty cutlery and plates, slow to the point of embarrassing service. The manager told me when I questioned him about the menu that the menu has not been available since the pandemic. This .Evans the owners have had 2 years to change the website bit haven't bothered. I asked whether the ice-cream was home made. I was told yes. Maybe is your home is the Amul factory. Everyone was really sweet but ultimately the owners should be embarrassed that this is what their Relais châteaux hotel has deteriorated to. So so disappointing, and made worse that it was .y mum's farewell dinner in India.
We were meeting up with our niece on our 3 month trip to India, having been out of the UK for a month. I chose Malabar as it’s a Relais and Chateaux property (we’ve stayed in several and they have always been first class) but also because the website said they served degustation meals (tasting menus) plus wines and evening entertainment and this was a special occasion. The email confirmation said there would be no entertainment, however that wasn’t key for us. They said the ‘ degustation menu will be designed on arrival by chef according to your preference.’ We arrived and they had no record of a reservation. I showed them the email. There was some debate about who had sent us the email confirming! They found us a table but didn’t set it until our starters arrived! They brought menus nothing like those on the website. No tasting menus. I asked why the disconnect with the website and they said since Covid they hadn’t been able to update the website! Seriously? I asked if they had Sula sparkling, they said yes. After ten minutes they brought something else. The service was shabby. There were very few folks in so no excuse. Food was average and we ate far better down the road for a fraction of the price last night. The finished plates were left for ages before being cleared. It was, all in all, a huge disappointment. I see some of the reviews are positive that’s great but clearly they hadn’t got expectations from the website and the Relais and Chateaux brand, who I think would be appalled at this mediocrity. By far the worst experience of our trip so far!
We loved the overall ambience of this place as well as the services of the courteous staff. However the food that we ate was quite bland and not as tasteful as we expected it to be. We felt very underwhelmed considering the price we paid for.
