What Mariah E doesn't like about Amy’s Wine House:
I really wanted to like this place...I LOVE Amy Winehouse. We arrived after a big party and they had ran out of all sides?! No salad, no rice nothing. We weren't even offered really any alternatives. Our waiter which I believed was the owner was so nonchalant when he was serving us like he was so over it. What we ordered took super long to come. When I made a comment he said he was the only one working and I thought... View all feedback.
The atmosphere here is unbeatable. We came on a Saturday when a musician was playing a guitar. We had sangria, which was great. All of the food was fantastic and the prices are fair. Service wasn't perfect but there was only one person handling both the bar and the tables. However, we didn't mind as our food always came out fresh and we were enjoying the atmosphere.
I had heard really good things about this place and was excited to attend a painting night there recently. I do not understand the draw. Maybe the food is really spectacular, but I didn't have an opportunity to try it. The breakdown: 1. It's CASH only. Which is pretty ballsy for a place with $14 entrees. 2. The ATM was out of money and the guy there was not apologetic. 3. The area behind the bar appears to consist of a chunk of old countertop held up by brackets and yet the wine is $6-$12 a glass. 4. I was there two hours and was never offered a menu, never asked if I needed anything. When I went back to the bar to get a menu and a drink the guy seemed vaguely put off that I was bothering him. Basically, it's a run down venture in most aspects with nothing unique or redeeming I could find. It's not a nice restaurant and it's not a dive bar, it has no niche. I'd recommend Friendly's over this, it's only a few blocks away.
Ambiance of the place is really nice, the music was great and the menu appears to have been well thought out. HOWEVER, the service and a lot of other details failed. What appeared to be the owner's son has no training in service, yet he was the primary source of service. Tables left dirty, no return trips...lots of lost revenue here. The wine list...very, very limited. Dish soap in the hand soap dispensers in the bathrooms, No Point of Sale system: handwritten bills with bad math and wrong amounts. CASH ONLY?! They washed dishes during the performance and the TV on was distracting for a place who's attendees are there for the music. I am not a restaurateur but I feel I could have done a better job. A little caring and view from the customer's prospective would go a long way without burying the owner in extra work and add to the bottom line. Perhaps he is burnt-out.
A lovely little place. Really enjoyed the live music and the food is pretty good.

When I made a comment he said he was the only one working and I thought to myself why wouldn't you extra stock up or have more staff it was a Friday night when most restaurants are their busiest so I don't understand I will never go back or recommend this place I was very sad that it was a horrible experience.
