Ruddy's - Forest of Dean

I ordered a large cod and chips, but what I received was a generous portion of chips while the size of the "large" cod was disappointingly small, barely larger than the 8-inch tray it came on. I felt like I was cheated as it was definitely not a large portion. I regret not speaking up at the time, but I decided not to cause a scene. This will be the last $10.90 they receive from me. Thieves!

I called ahead before visiting and was informed that the restaurant uses Palm oil to fry both chips and meat/fish items. As a Vegan with vegetarians in my family, this is not suitable for us. I cannot recommend this restaurant for those with allergies or sensitivities to ingredients that may be found in or prepared with meat/fish products, as there is a risk of cross contamination in the shared frying oil.

We were on holiday nearby and decided to try the fish and chips on our first night. We called ahead and placed our order. The food was ready quickly when we arrived to pick it up, and everything was correct. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious!

Worst chip shop I've ever visited! Asked for plenty of salt vinager there was mearly a sprinkle of salt on them. Chips were nothing special, and as for the curry sauce what on earth even is it? That is not curry sauce was most definitely not edible. Wish I'd checked reviews before going there, won't be returning!!

Fish and chip supper for me and wife on a weekday night, we only had the traditional cod and chips but thought it was very good value for money, we only had one portion to share and the portion size was huge we were able to divide into two and was enough for both of us. Fish was well cooked and batter was crispy as it should be, chips were all good. For a fish and chip shop we thought this was as good as you can get, will return.
