First time I ever went to Africa Town I was hesitantI'd never had African food beforeWhat is African food anyway? It's like saying Asian food.
There are many African restaurants in footscray. this very cheap Ethiopian place is one of the best choices. it is a bit fancier than most and it is Western friendly, although most of the males are African, they get a few western. I often see western women not crying Africans here and they are greeted by the sweet attractive waitress. the decor is attractive and relaxing with great murals of African life. they have a stage, so I suppose they have some nights, although I confess that I never heard it. tends to work on a Saturday night. the staff there know me well and are friendly and helpful. make sure they are understood. bring them to repeat their order back to them. or to a point. the television is in the regular on or there are African music; neither too loud nor angry. the toilet is divided back with an African pool room. as with any African place, check that it toilet paper. the female toilet is in me and is probably much cleaner. parking is always difficult in footscray, but if you have luck, there is a park in the next parking lot or near over coles. the large picture menu above the bar has about ten options, all $10. the best I have tried is the key wot, a rich bark on injera brot, that is like a big yeast sponge cake. it's a great idea to really soak the sauce. make sure they don't give them a goat. they also have a meat and vegetarian possibility, like six dishes on injera. that is not amazing as the key wot, but it is still good. all large and affordable for a tight budget, and understand the personal. these dishes were designed by a former chef who is now on the much more expensive the hut and won a competition for the best chef in footscray. eating here is quite spicy, so if they are not a spicy arta person, it is not their deal. you should take a piece injera and get meat. If you ask twice after a fork, they look confused and go out without a word. they think they didn't understand, but after a dae and a few reminders they produce a bent fork from somewhere in the kitchen. the coffee has now risen to $2.50. I'm getting sick of creepy high trips, but it's pretty good coffee. in fact the whole bar, with beer and beer and beer and African juices, is very cheap. they also have no alcoholic beer that I think is the whole reason for drinking beer. I have bought some non-alcoholic vodka! at home that I cheap, unstoppable, and can not wait to try on ppl on my next party. this is for Muslims who prefer their vodka without alcohol. they rarely see muslims in the African city because they have a bar. an older friend always asked about his tee in a cup and they always said yes and it always came in a glass. after two years we found out that they had no cups. african town is relaxing, very cheap and friendly in a relaxed style and wise one of my absolute fav sites in footscray. I'll give him five stars for the key.
The restaurant is great. We ordered the meat combination with 4 sauces and zil zil. The place is clean, cheap, and the food is delicious. We've noticed an improvement in their setup over the years and will definitely be coming back more often for our Ethiopian fix. The ambience was great, with some fire 70's soul music playing. The only drawback is that they could offer more variety on the menu since every dish is quite affordable.
The food at this restaurant is excellent and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. The staff are friendly. Although the bathrooms are disgusting, I would still come back for the delicious food.
