Was Juan Lima at Iki a mag?

The presentation for our orders was excellent. The takoyaki wasn't great. The bottom was flat which makes me think these weren't made on the spot. The toro sushi roll we ordered was okay. Our lunch special entrées were good overall with alot to eat where we had to take it to go. There were alot of waiters and waitresses just standing by in a corner of the room when it got busy. What Miron dislikes about Iki:

Great atmosphere and a lovely menu. However, the portion sizes depicted in the menu are a bit misleading compared to what you actually receive. Aside from that, the flavors were quite enjoyable, the service was friendly, and the ambiance was pleasant. Just a heads up—this restaurant isn't very vegan-friendly, so it might be best to leave your vegan friends behind. View all feedback.

The serenely decorated space of this restaurant caught our eye. The main attraction was the water cascading down the walls near the private canopies. It was definitely a delight to dine here as the atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing. Our table ordered the King Crab- steamed, with sauces on the side, okra, Fried Calamari, Rice. The waitress brought out the Crab before it was cooked..I didn't realize how big it was but I got it any way. It was absolutely delicious ?. The Okra was perfectly cooked, it still had a little bit of a crisp bite so it wasn't as slimy as you would think. The fried Calamari was cooked perfectly as well, it came with spicy mayo, which we enjoyed as well. I mean even the white rice was good. The customer service was impeccable as well. Overall a great dining experience. Thank you yo all the staff that assisted us.

TWO THINGS: Don't ever come and tell someone how much to tip you when there's no mandatory tip, but only suggestions like every other bill in this country. Especially when services are mediocre at best. Secondly, don't ever add suggested tips on the total bill. It is always before taxes. This is the FIRST ever restaurant I've been to in my life that comes back and asks for more tip, and the first one I've noticed that add their suggested tip box on the total after tax. Life is hard as it is already, don't scam people. I was certainly surprised to say the least by that. Who on earth does that? WOW.

I did a TableForOne. I was immediately directed to a seat, got my menus. Ordered seared tuna sushi and some type of boar katsudon over rice. Overall experience was a 8/10. I went during the day when traffic was slow. Over price for my meal was 40-50. Would def go back. ONLY issue is that the restaurant is hard to find via GPS.

This food is really good, but somewhat inexpensive (according to my kids).

Parking: There is a nearby parking lot for $3/hour (maximum of 3 hours). There is street/metered parking (difficult to find). We discovered this place after deciding not to wait on the waitlist for Szechuan Mountain House. Service: Service was good. We were greeted and seated immediately. Atmosphere: I really liked the decor/ambiance. Really clean/modern look. Food: The portion sizes were rather small and on the more expensive end. We ordered various dishes and the presentation of the food was great. Abalone This was good. Had a citrus taste to it. The price of this was discounted when we went (not sure if this will remain at a discounted price for future visits) Dragon Maki Tasted good but nothing above and beyond. Comparable to any other sushi restaurant. Agedashi Tofu This was good. Again, nothing above and beyond. Can get this anywhere and will be comparable. Takoyaki Underwhelming. The bottom of the ball appeared to be flat. Tori Karaage Underwhelming. Can get fried chicken anywhere. Lava Stone A5 Wagyu The meat was tender but was tasteless. Portion size was really small and definitely not worth the $36. Better off getting 2 3 more rolls instead of this. Oyako Don Underwhelming. Nothing stood out and you wont be missing out if you go anywhere else that offers this. Seafood Yaki Udon This was good. The sauce was good. It wasnt too oily. Definitely above average for udon. Ice Cream Complementary at the end. This was also good. Only had the options of matcha or vanilla. Verdict: I would recommend coming here to try it out however this is definitely not the spot to go to if you are looking for dinner/something to fill you up. Place is more like a spot for lunch.

Ordered good amount of food, one specific item we ordered was salmon clay rice pot with salmon roe. While ordering the waiter informed us that the dish was meant for four people so we adjusted what we ordered expecting the dish to be a lot. When the dish came out, the waiter brought out an big clay pot, mixed around the rice, and gave us two small rice bowls worth. Not sure if there was supposed to be more to the dish, but it was definitely not meant for four people, barely one, but was charged the full price of the dish. So either, the waiter didn't know what he was talking about or they just didn't give us all the food.

Get the omakase when you first come to Iki, it’s the best for the quality and fullness factor (everything in the meal pictured below). Everything else on the menu is also delicious! It’s my favorite spot to get Japanese food in Flushing.

I am extremely dismayed and frustrated with this restaurant and their lack of respect for their customers. I placed an order for takeout this afternoon but was given an incomplete order. The Lunch Kaisen Don Set from their lunch menu specifically says it includes dessert and ice cream. When my order arrived, no dessert or ice cream was there. I called the restaurant to ask if they forgot it in their order. The lady I spoke to was extremely rude and dismissive and said that the dessert and ice cream was only available as a dine-in option. When I asked why this wasn't mentioned on their website, she rudely cut me off and said they will take it off their menu and hung up on me. This is blatant false advertising and on top of that, poor customer service. In terms of the food quality, the portion sizes were small (especially for $30/dish), and the food was mediocre at best. The food was lukewarm and although the food was delivered, my office is on the same block. It tasted like the portions of the food was reheated. The seafood did not taste fresh, especially the uni. To say the least, I am very disappointed in Iki. I can get better Japanese food at half the price without the rude customer service in Flushing. If you want poor customer service, small portions, and mediocre Japanese food, then waste your money at Iki.

Food just mediocre, proportion sizes were really small compared to the price. And the service is the worst.

Enjoyed a variety of delicious dishes. The vegetables were prepared with just the right amount of seasoning to retain their freshness and color. The beef dish and fried rice was superb. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive. The prices were moderate. Highly recommend!

One of the best Japanese restaurants in Queens! We were absolutely impressed by the food and outstanding service. The portions are generous, especially considering the great prices. Everything was served very quickly. The staff checked on us often, answered all my questions, and were incredibly friendly. The lunch sets are a fantastic deal, offering numerous sides and appetizers at an excellent price. Every dish was delicious. I ordered the kaisen don set, which came with a salad, egg custard, pickled radish, lotus root, oyster, and miso soup. The salad dressing was exceptional—mustard-based and unlike anything I've tasted before. Dessert included ice cream as well. I’ll definitely be returning with friends. Highly recommend! 10/10

Iki is an elegant and visually appealing restaurant. Unlike many Japanese establishments in New York, Iki’s menu features authentic Japanese names for the dishes offered. The futo maki, one of the few vegetarian options, was delightful—hearty and wholesome. I also tried the tofu steak, which was beautifully presented on the plate. Although the tofu portion was larger than expected, the dish wasn’t as filling as a typical meat-based meal. Additionally, the tofu steak can taste a bit salty after finishing the vegetables on top. Overall, my experience at Iki was enjoyable.

The food at this restaurant is quite good, with a diverse menu offering plenty of choices. Surprisingly, on a Friday night, the place was mostly empty, which was nice because we were seated right away. However, my overall experience was marred by the service. I visited with a companion, and after reviewing the menu, we were eager to order the wagyu dishes. When the waiter came to take our order, he surprised us by saying we couldn’t order wagyu. I was taken aback, and my boyfriend became a bit irritated. The waiter went on to suggest that we wouldn't enjoy the wagyu because it was "meant for Chinese people" and insisted that we should order the fried rice and BBQ short ribs instead. We tried to insist on ordering the wagyu again, but he remained firm, repeating that we should stick to the fried rice and BBQ short ribs since they were Korean BBQ short ribs. Reluctantly, as we didn’t want to create a scene, we ordered those dishes. While the food was decent, the situation became more frustrating when a table of three—who were not of Asian descent—was seated next to us and was allowed to order the 8-piece wagyu option. That was the final straw in an already disappointing dining experience. I understand that this restaurant is located in Flushing, Queens, where the majority of the clientele is Asian, but I believe that anyone should be able to enjoy Asian cuisine, regardless of their background. If I’m willing to spend my hard-earned money, I expect to have the freedom to order anything off the menu. Being told that I can’t order something, with the reasoning tied to my ethnicity, seems utterly unfair. In summary, if you seek good food but are prepared to deal with poor service, this might be the place for you.

We enjoy visiting this restaurant for their lunch special. It includes steamed eggs, a salad, miso soup, and ice cream with your entrée. It truly makes for a wonderful, well-rounded meal.

The uni and foie gras were delicious, although the bread could have been a bit crunchier. The fish was fresh and flavorful. The geoduck wasn’t perfect, but it was acceptable. The salmon neck was nice and crispy, just the way I like it. The half lobster had some tasty roe, which was a nice touch. However, the lobster roll didn't measure up to the others, so I'd recommend steering clear of that one. The Alaskan crab, both baked and boiled, was excellent, even though what we had was under 6 lbs. The geoduck, udon, napa cabbage, and mushroom soup was a substantial and satisfying dish. However, the final steamed egg with truffle shavings felt a bit excessive at the end—perhaps we were just too full by that point! Overall, it was a great meal, but the experience was marred by an unpleasant issue in the parking lot. There was a leak that caused a terrible smell, which clung to our clothes and vehicles. It seems this happens fairly often in this building, so be warned!
