Fay Da Bakery - FLUSHING
Fay Da Bakery
Description
Fay Da Bakery, nestled in the bustling Flushing Mall, presents a mixed bag for patrons exploring its sweet and savory offerings. While the selection boasts unique buns and tasty breads, recent reviews indicate a decline in freshness and quality compared to its other Queens locations. Customers have reported issues ranging from unkempt surroundings and rude service to unexpected billing complications. Despite these setbacks, some regulars remain loyal for standout items like tuna buns and the refreshing watermelon drink. While this bakery has potential, it’s clear management must address both cleanliness and customer service to enhance the dining experience.

Yeah, I'm not sure why Fay Da Bakery has such a low rating on Yelp. I wanted to be the first 5 star review on this app but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Anyway, I came in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised with everything. The selection here is pretty good. They have some cool breads and buns like chicken katsu bun, fried fish filet bun, etc. The bread was tasty and more unique than some of the bakery competitors like Sheng Kee. Pretty good location too as it is located inside of the Skyview Center mall. Looking back, I'd put this bakery a tier or two above the classic Asian bakeries like Sheng Kee and Paris Baguette. They have some really tasty bread here. Now I wish there were Fay Das here in the bay.
The restaurant offers quick service and a variety of standard bakery items. However, the quality seems to vary at this location in the mall compared to other Fay Da locations in Queens. The items here were noticeably less fresh than at the other locations. While the selection was mostly available and there weren't many items out of stock, the buns had very little filling, and the sponge cake lacked the fluffy texture it used to have. The prices remain consistent with what you'd expect.
Their tuna buns are the best! Usually the first place I’d stop at whenever I go to Downtown Flushing, and it’s been a place I’ve frequented for years, since high school and that was years ago!
I really enjoy having breakfast here; the croissants and pork buns are delightful. I also love indulging in a sweet bun after lunch!
I show them my gift certificate before I purchase. Because both side has some damage, I don’t know why it got stick on my backpack . I am not sure if I can still use it, because I’m at the register already when I found there is some damage . So I asked the cashier if I can use it. The cashier said it’s $10. Because the numbers still can be see. And she asked me if I have some changes. Meantime when I’m taking change, she showed it to the other cashier. Then the other cashier told me I can’t use this, because the back is damaged. So I said the back is just policy. You guys can see the amount and the numbers on the back. There is some damage in the left hand side only. She just said No and ignore me. So the cashier asked me if I still want to buy! I would say, if at the beginning they refuse me, I will just take out the money. But later on the excuse they give to me, I can’t understand and accept!
