Description

Tucked into a small-town strip, this Indian/Nepalese kitchen serves authentic, well-balanced curries, standout naan and excellent chutneys, with friendly, attentive service and clean, warmly decorated dining. Highlights include a spicy, flavorful saag and a light dairy-free garlic naan; chai and Indian beer are available. Takeout is offered, though some curries arrive oily, portions feel modest for the price and rice can be slightly undercooked. Overall a reliable, accommodating spot for lunch or casual dinners.

3.5 stars. A decent spot! I only tried takeout, so I can't comment on the dine-in experience. There is street parking available. I ordered the veggie pakoras, chicken jwano, Saag paneer (both made spicy for Indian tastes), along with a garlic naan and a cheese naan. The curries came with plain white rice. For $17, the portion size of the curries felt a bit lacking. The pakoras were just average, featuring onions, peppers, and cauliflower in a fried dough. The accompanying chutneys were enjoyable. I found the jwano less spicy than I anticipated; while the tomato-based curry had a homemade quality, it ultimately felt like just another typical tomato curry. The flavor of ajwain (carom seeds) added some depth, but it wasn't particularly memorable. Conversely, the Saag was quite spicy and packed with flavor. It wasn’t merely plain Saag; they clearly enhance the spinach flavor. The paneer is also fried beforehand, which elevates the dish further. I liked it much more. However, both curries were quite oily, causing some to leak into the takeout bag; I tried to save as much as I could for later use. The cheese naan was very heavy due to the ample cheese, so I only managed to eat a quarter of it. The garlic naan was decent, but I would have preferred a stronger garlic flavor. The rice was slightly hard, but it paired alright with the curries. Overall, the food was decent, though a bit pricier than I expected. By the way, they serve Indian beer, which could be a nice experience for beer enthusiasts.

Great indian restaurant, as you can taste actual spices. Excellent chutney here. Also they gladly accommodate special requests, such as aloo gobi masala, no gobi.
