We had the worst experience ever! We waited over an hour for two pizzas that we never received. The two Caprese salads we ordered were also incorrect, as they didn't have buffalo mozzarella. When we finally got up to pay for our drinks, the chef tried to apologize. He handed us our pizzas, but when we got home, we discovered that they were the wrong order. We won't be returning.
This was the worst pizza I've ever had! Baking in an 800-degree oven shouldn’t produce dough that’s sticky. The bottom crust was undercooked, and the dough beneath the toppings was raw and overly wet. Instead of being light and airy, it was dense and heavy. This is clearly a result of using pre-packaged dough that was overproofed and poorly handled. There's no way to make pizza of such low quality in a proper wood-fired oven. To make matters worse, when I raised my concerns with the staff, they didn’t offer any solutions. In the end, I felt like I wasted $75—far too much for pizza of this quality. I will definitely not be returning. I gave it one star because I couldn't give zero. Save your money and your time!
This restaurant is truly underrated. We stopped by for dinner last night on our way to the Casting Crowns concert, and it was a fantastic experience. We began with the Woodford jumbo shrimp topped with blue cheese and bacon, and it was hands down the best dish I've had in ages. You absolutely have to try it; I can't wait to go back for more! We also ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza, which was a classic New York-style pizza and incredibly tasty. Finally, we sampled the pecan Danish pizza, and it was simply AMAZING! If you find yourself in Florence, SC, be sure to stop by and give them some support!
Having moved down from Southern New Jersey six years ago, my family has been on the hunt for the familiar foods we grew up with. Living just ten minutes from Philadelphia spoiled us with authentic Philly cheesesteaks and pizza, so finding those in the South has been quite the adventure. Recently, we visited Rebel Pie in Florence on the recommendation of a friend, and saying we got our fix would be an understatement. As soon as we got out of the car, we caught a whiff of the wood-burning pizza ovens. Once inside, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely young lady from Maryland, who turned out to be our waitress and was fantastic. We started with the fire-roasted shrimp topped with bacon and blue cheese, which was absolutely delicious. For our pizza choices, we ordered a Margherita for our 12-year-old daughter and decided to create a favorite we used to enjoy at Michaelangelo's in Philly: the basic pie with prosciutto (something you rarely see in Southern pizza places), spinach, and basil. When the pizzas arrived, we felt like we were in heaven. The thin crust had slightly browned and crispy edges—though it could have been a bit more cooked on the bottom, it didn’t detract from the amazing flavor. We devoured both pies and were completely satisfied. Although Rebel Pie offers some intriguing desserts, we couldn't resist stopping by the Rita's Italian Water Ice stand a few stores down, especially since we hadn’t had one in six years. We'll definitely be making Rebel Pie a regular stop during our visits to Florence, and don’t forget to tip your server generously!
