Flint’s renowned diner evokes strong opinions among patrons, eliciting both admiration and disappointment. While many rave about the exceptional fish and chips, generous portions, and inviting atmosphere, others criticize inconsistent service and declining food quality. Positive experiences highlight standout dishes like the Philly cheesesteak and hand-cut onion rings, with attentive waitstaff enhancing the dining journey. However, frustrations abound over operational hours and food preparation, suggesting the establishment may be at a crossroads. As regulars and newcomers alike plead for improvements, it becomes clear that this once-classic American diner could benefit from a refreshed approach to both service and menu.

I stopped in after a Dr appointment and was very pleased with the prices, food and service wish they had one in Saginaw where I'm from see you next month my new go to place in Flint now
The highlight of this restaurant is definitely their fish and chips. However, whenever I try to call to leave feedback, the phone just keeps ringing without anyone answering. This seems to be a recurring issue...it's so frustrating. I often end up giving up and choosing to order from another place instead.
If your looking for a good place to eat and unchanged by the unfortunate decline of local dine out establishments . This is it !!Quality food , clean and comfortable atmosphere.Great service as well !The Oatmeal is recommended !
Family owned operation for over 40 years Peter has done very well after taking over from his father one of the last of the original Coney Islands John's is the best
I don't eat too much today on your mom and pop-coney islands. I've been doing business on this side of the city last week and made breakfast here.

The John’s burger is what you want when you are craving an old school burger. Good coneys. Big breakfast was a hit with my partner in crime. Everything is good. Super great service!
The waitress was excellent, and the decor was nice, but the food was a huge letdown. The canned sausage gravy resembled cream of mushroom soup rather than a hearty gravy, and the hash browns were sliced instead of shredded, arriving undercooked and mushy even though I requested them well done. The biscuits tasted like they were pre-made, lacking flavor and having a strong oily taste. Sadly, I won’t be coming back to this restaurant.
He had Coneys I had Fish, we were both very pleased. Delish. Home made onion rings were out of this world. Waitress seemed to love her job. Took great care of us.Food: 5/5
I have to say, wow! My mom introduced my wife and me to this place, and now we’re regulars on the weekends. The food is outstanding. Breakfast is just perfect—full of flavor and made with care. This time, I tried the lunch menu and the Philly cheesesteak was a standout. It should really be called The REAL Big John's steak and cheese! My son couldn’t finish his grilled cheese sandwich, so I had a bite, and I couldn’t believe how delicious it was—10 out of 10! We also had milkshakes for dessert, which were fantastic as well. A big shoutout to the kitchen for the amazing food. The waitstaff is also very attentive and friendly.
Great coneys, burgers and fries! Good coffee, great fast service! Friendly staff.Food: 5/5
