This hotel advertises $10 meals for lunch - Lamb Shanks, Schnitzel, and Fish and chips but we opted for a seafood basket between us. More than enough for the two of us. The size of the platter was deceiving. The calamari was so tender, the...More View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Falveys Grand Hotel:
After recently moving to Ipswich, my husband & I wanted to a) try out the nearby restaurants & b) let someone else cook dinner for us! We stopped in to the Falvey's Grand Hotel to give it a go.After a couple of games of pool in the not-so-busy bar area (it was a Sunday afternoon after all), we headed to the restaurant area. The restaurant is a very simply designed & decorated area, definitely a pub restaurant. The me... View all feedback.
This was our first visit to this restaurant on a Friday night with a family of 6. We were all very satisfied with our meals and the service provided by the staff was fantastic.
My friends and I decided to have lunch here after looking for nearby dining options. We were happy we chose this place. The service was excellent and our food arrived promptly. We ordered the pulled pork burger, children's cheeseburger, and a rump steak, all of which were cooked perfectly.
Celebrating my birthday, we are nearly 60 yrs old. On sitting and ordering, drinks while waiting, security standing behind us...very intimidating, like we 're in a prison...the meal is below average, have eaten better elsewhere. I am enjoying the night as we do not go out much these days. For the last drink after meal, hubby ordered a double vodka, the bar girl puts in lots of ice, hubby advices, less ice please...we are paying for double vodka...she then says: no more drinks for you, you have had enough hubby returns to me, lets go..oh wow whats happened, he explains...then security comes to table and says we have to leave..oh wow...we are grandparents, working people, not even noisy or intoxicated and asked to leave. So we do, go to our warm home talking about the horrible night at Falway. Don 't judge a book by its cover. Train your staff to treat paying customers with respect...we did not retaliate...thats what troublemakers do...zero stars from us!!! you got $100 and more from us, and we were asked to leave!!! addit: saw some loud drunks, where is security there!!?? and we were excorted out like criminals!! I chose this place to eat as when I drive past often, I wonder what it like... well see ya later!!
Well. What an experience. Straight up, 2 staff watched one of our children spill her drink. Did not assist or offer to assist. We were excited upon reading the menu. But that’s where the excitement ended. 10 mins after ordering one child received their meal. 20 minutes later, we received our starters. Waited another 10 minutes before calling a server as our poor 4 year old, who has allergies so was unable to share any of ours, was just sitting there, waiting for her food. We waited about another 5 minutes and her meal was finally brought out with our mains. The food was completely underwhelming. Mine was so bad it was inedible. Which was a complete shame. The only nice thing that was balanced and tasted amazing was the dumplings. Definitely will not be back.
During a visit with family, we were recommended to have lunch at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted. The menu offered a wide variety of choices, with entrees on special for 3 for $32.00, which was great value. We opted for the brisket, sautéed scallops, and crumbed calamari for our entrees, and a chicken schnitzel for our main. Our meals were served promptly, with generous portions, beautifully presented, and delicious in taste. We also enjoyed a bottle of New Zealand wine. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and highly recommend this establishment. Kudos to the management and staff.
