What Madalyn Swift doesn't like about Victoria Inn:
Got my reservation wrong. Suppose to be a king, got a two double. They couldn't upgrade/fix either. I had booked a month in advance. Very dated, needs upgrades. Over priced for what you get. Same as rest of chain. Don't even get real glasses to drink from in the room. Food from restaurant is good. View all feedback.
It was nice to find a restaurant right in the hotel and it was a bonus to find such a variety of foods on the menu. The portions were a decent size and they know how to cook a steak! The service was OK. a bit slow and not a lot of visits to the table...but I've certainly been to worse places.I recommend the bacon wrapped fillet, but the pork platter looked amazing!
I recently stayed here for a week while I did some business in town. The staff are courteous and efficient. I arrived at 8:30am ahead of schedule and they allowed me to check in early on my first day. The rooms are alright, nothing fancy but cozy enough. My rate was a little pricey I thought (150 a night) but given the lack of competition in town I wasn't surprised. There is a nice little pool in the middle of the hotel along with a gym, restaurant and bar. Adjacent to the hotel is a Walmart with a MacDonald's which is convenient. The restaurant served food from 6:30am-10pm while I was there which I found useful. Overall on my next trip to Flin Flon I'd be happy to return to "The Vic"
If they are looking for an unforgettable place to eat, they look elsewhere. However, if they are looking for a good place to eat right in the hotel where they live, they go for it. some days, maybe it's just them, the server and the. of this huge place. They will make sure they're well-equipped, and that's all they'll remember. her menu is very standard.
I ate here twice the week. I had the rues with pommes and gravy on the side. small light on the meat and engraving (approximately half a bit) but many fries. but tasteful and good. Today I had the 8oz filet with...cheese filled kartoffel, vegetables (green yellow beans, carrots), roasted mushrooms, salad with blue cheese dressing and diner rolls with butter, followed with new york cheesecake (which was only 1/4 the size of the on the menu image). steak was perfect (proven closer to middle rare vs rare,) kartoffel was pretty good, vegies typical. buns chewing gum, butter tasteless, salat ok but almost short on dressing as this expects a remote site to pay a bit more. but a great selection of articles and they will make lunches when they can find nothing they like. chairs are very badly padded for bigger moss.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I asked the friendly waitress for a recommendation, and she suggested the steak. So, I decided to go with her suggestion. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the filet I received as it was small and not flavorful. The vegetable medley was a confusing mix of cold items and the baked cheese potato was just average. My guest only had a small salad and a few beers, yet the bill was much higher than expected for what we actually consumed. Overall, I did not feel that the meal was worth the price. I will be looking for other restaurants in the city that serve better steaks on my next visit. In conclusion, I was disappointed with my experience at Kelsey's.
