Love historic places! The Crown is attached to a motel and you could drive right by it. But what a wonderful find. Mike wanted eggs Benny and this is the place to come in Flagstaff. Charming dining-room with a model train that goes all the way around. Mike loved his eggs Benedict. And. “Those” potatoes were delicious. Teah was super friendly, and gave great service. What Josie F doesn't like about The Crown Railroad Café:
Food was decently sized. Chorizo omelette was nice but steak omelette was under salted. The train going around the restaurant was cute.Main fault was the communication. One waitress said there was a 30+ minute wait when the diner was half busy, another said we could get seated right away. At checkout there is a 6.5% service charge on all checks to account for rising food costs- dunno why they wouldn’t reprint the men... View all feedback.
This is like having a great breakfast in a diner in the United States in 1960. And that is a very good thing. There must be 80 variations on omelettes on the menu (you order by the number). And the rest of the breakfast and lunch menu is quite good. The servings are very generous, the way staff is reasonably attentive and is it is a great way to spend part of a Saturday morning. Not fancy, but good.

At checkout there is a 6.5% service charge on all checks to account for rising food costs- dunno why they wouldn’t reprint the menus instead to reflect that when in the service charge explanation they mentioned that staff get paid minimum wage. Also, the bathrooms were somewhat dirty and in the women’s one was out of order. I wouldn’t recommend dining here.
Cool place to eat before adventuring out for the day. We stayed in Flagstaff and ate here before heading to the GC. Great atmosphere and staff. The kids loved watching the real trains go by every few minutes and the train set running around the restaurant ceiling.
I stopped in here this morning to nab myself a breakfast: eggs and bacon. And this spot did not disappoint. It’s a quintessential Route 66 diner, with a railroad theme. It’s got a train track running around the interior with a moving train cruising the tracks. It’s also the meeting place for many local people from Flagstaff hour from a very friendly and are open to conversation. If you’re in town, give this place a shot. It’ll satisfy your hunger and give you a place to feel warm at heart.
