What Ian Dunn dislikes about Safeway:
I usually like Safeway, but they chose a random spot in the parking lot—right across from their previous pickup location—to set up their cart lock line. As a result, I had to carry multiple bags of groceries and my baby to the car. There was no line and no warning except a sign on the store. This is unsafe. Please improve, Safeway. I’ve been shopping at Safeway for decades, and for good reason! They offer quality products, excellent service, a great selection, competitive prices, and frequent specials. The staff are friendly, professional, and truly skilled. The aisles are wide, the shelves well-stocked, and the store is bright and spotless. Accessibility is never a problem, and even the bathrooms are easy to use for those with mobility challenges. Many locations feature a hot foods section, making a quick lunch visit a real treat. If you’re craving hot, fresh fried chicken, it’s much more affordable and satisfying than fast food! Plus, on special days, you can get a pound of chicken for less than what a small burger costs at a fast-food restaurant. If you want even better fried chicken, it’s easy to make at home. I absolutely love Safeway!

Edit – I returned to Safeway since I’m staying at a nearby hotel and decided to follow the advice from the response to my first comment. I asked Judith, who was working at the self-checkout, for help with the app. There was only one cashier with a long line, so I chose self-checkout. Safeway really needs to hire more staff. Unfortunately, Judith was very rude and made me feel stupid because I didn’t know how to download the app to get the $3 digital coupon. She couldn’t get my phone to work properly and told me to go to Verizon for assistance. Really? Safeway makes it so difficult to get the discount that it feels like they just want customers to give up. I’m older and not tech-savvy. If it’s this hard to access sale prices, what’s the point? Walmart sells the bread I wanted for the same price as Safeway’s coupon. Grocery shopping shouldn’t be this complicated. I’m a senior on a budget, and your prices are the highest in town. I won’t be shopping here again. I don’t deserve to feel ignorant just because I don’t know how to use an app. Shame on Safeway. I’d rather spend an extra 10 minutes driving to Walmart. I also wish Safeway had a consistent schedule for their rotisserie chickens. One day they’re ready by 8:30 a.m., and the next time I’m told noon. Maybe you need to train more staff to prepare them. And as for prices, I shouldn’t even mention it—Frys and Walmart offer many of the same products for much less.
