Wonderful little tavern. Servers were very friendly, the mead fantastic...highly recommend the Apple, Root Bee-ah, and Peach. Glad we could check this place out! View all feedback.
Plenty of variety (from spicy to sweet). We grabbed a bottle to go as well.
This place totally slaps. We were there for trivia night, but we just wanted a flight. The mead was SO GOOD. The mead with the tea in it was phenomenal. Smaug was my favorite. They had some sweet stuff and some dry stuff and everything was so different but it was all really good. We tried the Bluetooth, Metheglin, Smaug, Unicorn Blood, Root Beeah, Peach, then Apple and Creamsicle to go. The Root Beer, Apple, Smaug, and Peach were our winners. The bartenders were busy but still took the time to chat with us and make recommendations and check out of state shipping for us. They both did their jobs well and were helping each other out and obviously enjoyed their jobs, it was great to see. The whole vibe of the place was phenomenal. I especially loved the wood flight trays with the magnets to tell you which mead was which. We told all our friends who were in town to go. We're totally ordering mead for Christmas. We had a great time here.
Where was this place when I was a college student? I recently returned to Flagstaff for a college reunion and decided to wander downtown for a few drinks and found Drinking Horn Meadery on Route 66 near San Francisco. I always enjoy a good mead, so I wandered in for a beverage. There is only street parking near the place, so be prepared to walk a bit. The interior of the meadery looks like an old Viking hall with wood tables and décor that invokes a post-plundering Smörgåsbord. The theme was continued by the presence of some costumed individuals from the Oktoberfest party. I took a seat at the bar and looked over the large menu. Their mead is based on using local honey flavored with many different ingredients. On my trip, they were also partnering with Proper Meats next door for food orders. I chose a wonderful prickly pear mead which was a good use of the unique fruit. The mead is strong with a little natural sparkle. Flavoring can help those not used to the unique taste of naturally brewed mead. Many people choose the flights or samplers, or the brave ones can drink from the horn! This is a great option for Flagstaff and is pretty popular cementing its popularity. If you are looking for something fun on your weekend trip to Flagstaff or when heading to the Grand Canyon, Drinking Horn Meadery is one of those fun and unique local watering holes that will make your adventure complete.
Excellent mead, surpassed only by the excellent service. I had a great time!
