Under New management but still super friendly staff and great food. Good wines at reasonable prices and amazing selection of gourmet pizza's as well as other menu selections. Large restaurant - fantastic for large groups and or families with prams. View all feedback.
What Alphonse Didier doesn't like about Red Olive:
Service was great, very attentive. Not long to wait for meal. Good range of pasta but noted that some were marked N/A on menus, which was disappointing. Food was nice but don't think pasta was freshly made. The place did get quiet noisy and hard to chat with people on your table. They also don't split bills View all feedback.

Seafood Risotto was perfect! Fresh seafood, beautiful flavours and cooked just right! Excellent value, not overpriced. Pizza- all great. Priced well and fresh ingredients- very Italian style. Honest good service Highly recommend to try- simple local place.
We have been here with friends of ours (in total 4 adults and 3 children) because the restaurant is very close to our house and we could not be bothered to go further downtown. Overall, the visit was not very pleasant and there is not really a reason for us to return. Here is why: 1) The atmosphere was not very nice…it was extremely loud (even though we were very early for dinner and only three tables were occupied) due to the not very suited playlist they had on full volume. Conversation…difficult! 2) The food was very average quality. The appetizers (olive ascolana) were not really good or made by the original recipe. It is also questionable whether they are made in the house or just bought frozen. We had two pasta dishes, one was ok, the other was not. And the pizza was below average. 3) The service was ok, but also not overwehlmingly friendly. 4) The price is way too high for this kind of quality.
Good food, upmarket casual dining and a great array of mains plus the pizza's are excellent and possibly what they are known for. The place has an open lively feel when full and is great for a casual ocassion or get together
It has been a long time between visits and I know why , despite offering reasonable food the service is appalling , we were made to feel like we were interrupting them by entering , stood at the door for at least 10 minutes despite being the only ones in the restaurant , when seated ignored for a good further 15 mins had to ask for menus and to order , it all seemed way too hard and most inconvenient for the staff. wouldn't go back when the best pizza in Melbourne is about 100 meters up the road.
