This little deli is now on our to-do list every time we visit Melbourne. a short tram ride out of the city sees you landing on the outskirts of Fitzroy and after a short walk, you will find the colourful building.Entering inside has little to no WOW factor however once you dig around and suss out the offerings you won't be disappointed. This small shop in Johnston St is the place to go for your Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American ingredients if you live in Melbourne. Everything you could wish for if you are planning a Spanish fiesta. Wide selection of canned fish (love the razor clams), bomba rice, pimenton, dried peppers, jamon, chorizo and Spanish cheeses at excellent prices. Always friendly and helpful service. Bumped into Maeve O'Meara (Food Safari) last time I was there
This little deli is now on our to do list every time we visit Melbourne. a short tram ride out of the city sees you landing on the outskirts of Fitzroy and after a short walk, you will find the colourful building. Entering inside has little to no WOW factor however once you dig around and suss out the offerings you won 't be disappointed. We opt for the 'Bocadillo ' which is a crudely made crunchy roll with nothing but Hamon Serrano, manchego cheese, pickled veges and olives. We wash this down with a taster 'empanadilla ' which can be eaten hot or cold my recommendation is go cold as the microwave simply doesn 't do it justice. Finally have a ferret around the imported and yummy treats...great stocking fillers for Christmas.
Love visiting this shop can always find something new to try. Whenever I need an especially good Spanish ingredient, I go here. They also offer good advice on which Chorizo is the best for the use you have in mind.
We walked up to this small store from the city in search of Pão de queijo mix from Brazil. They had big kilo bags for $20. We were happy.
Great finger foods, delicate cheeses, meats and more. Everything Portuguese. Don't miss the Portuguese Tarts ! Great service too. Well priced
