On a sunny Saturday morning, snagging one of the bench tables on the pavement was a master stroke. There's a fair amount of variety on the menu here but we took the baked eggs with lamb and potato. It was very tasty with the only downside of the egg being cooked right through - hard to keep it slightly runny when it's baked in a cast iron dish, but it could have used the moisture from the yolk. What Ines Kuhn doesn't like about Birdman Eating:
We had decided to go here on a Monday morning as it was open and had found it listed on concrete playground best brunch spots. We arrived there was only 1 other table and the staff ignored us. They eventually came up and I asked what the baked eggs were as it said see waitstaff.. They didn't know and were very rude!! We left and went to Archie's down the road and had great service instead and a better menu!! View all feedback.
Had breakfast here, was lovely, awesome food and wonderful staff. Eggs done perfectly woyld defi definitely go back.
Great little Fitzroy local cafe now under new management so thought we'd try it again. For brekkie we had the smashed avo...generous serve of avo and so tasty. Came back again for lunch as the burgers looked so delish.. I had the pork burger and my vegetarian friend had the vegie burger. The buns were perfect and soft and the fillings bursting with flavour..can't wait to get back and try out the beef!!
Birdman eating has revived itself. Its diverse menu is sure to have something for all taste-buds. Their menu items are executed brilliantly with some breakfast basics as well as a few more adventurous items including their signature dish, the birds nest, which I highly recommend and will be sure to have you diving for your phone to document the amazing looking dish. Friendly staff, relaxed environment in a prime position on the corner of Smith and Gertrude Street. Be sure to check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
New owners, new management, new menu. Great food with a pumping new vibe. Fantastic daring chefs bring a innovative spin to Melbournes cafe culture. So much goodness for so little coin. Love it!
Breakfast at this great little café in Gertrude Street was the perfect way to start our sunny Sunday. An interesting and different breakfast menu, included son-in-law eggs, quinoa porridge, baked eggs and a sprinkle of gold dust as well. We couldn't go past the corn and zucchini fritters with smashed avocado, maple glazed bacon and relish. Delicious! The coffee is great as are the staff. It's a very friendly, well priced and comfortable café in a great location.
