This small campsite is perfect, with clean showers and toilets. Despite the negative reviews about the food, we were pleasantly surprised! There is a £5 discount per night for dining or drinks, making the £20 per night camping fee well worth it. What Helen Stuart doesn't like about The Dotterel Inn:
The mashed potatoes were lumpy, the vegetables lacked taste, and the gravy was thin. The carvery was terrible. The restaurant appeared run down and uninviting. I will not be coming back. View all feedback.
We decided to visit this pub as a last resort since it was the only dog-friendly option nearby. The atmosphere was not very lively, with only three staff members on duty. The menu was limited and sticky, with basic food options available. Drinks were served in cans rather than glasses. I ordered a steak pie with chips and peas, but the chips tasted reheated and the pie was soggy and cold. The gravy seemed to be made from Bisto gravy granules and nothing appeared to be homemade. Overall, I would not recommend The Dotterel Inn to others. Save your time and money.
The staff at the restaurant were friendly, however, the food was terrible. My partner's lasagne looked unappetizing and old. It seemed like most of the dishes were reheated in the microwave. The only fresh thing in the restaurant was the morning newspaper.

We all agree that this place deserves a 10/10 rating. We hope the new owners maintain it as a beautiful destination. Don't let the negative reviews deter you from giving this place a chance - it is very child and dog-friendly.

The dining experience was absolutely lovely, the staff were very polite and accommodating, and even our dog enjoyed it as well.
