At first sight you would think it was just a bar, but we were shown upstairs to pleasant restaurant. The waiter was polite and helpful. It was suggested that we try the arroz caldoso con bogovante. As that is one dish that we were desperate to try we said yes, at €30 a head. So, we were presented with a medium sized paella pan with a wonderfully rich fish sauce. In that sauce was rice, clams, lobster and crab. It looked wonderful. Unfortunately after we had worked our way through the dish it became apparent that, except for the clams, there was very little meat. The large pieces of lobster were two lobster heads and two sections of the body that contained the gills. The meat from the main body was completely absent. There were two small claws, but they should have been much larger. The crab was a small section of the main shell with no meat and some very small claws that may have contained meat, but was too small to access. We started to look at other tables as nearly everyone had ordered it and we saw large lobster claws and what seemed to be decent sized pieces of lobster meat. So, 3 stars because what we had tasted delicious, the staff were polite and helpful and the restaurant was fine. Also, we had a very nice local Albariño for €20. However, when we saw what other Spanish speaking tables had been given, we felt that we had been treated badly. We didn’t raise it as an issue whilst there as the food tasted fine and the absence of any large pieces of meat only became apparent when we noticed what other tables had been given. What a shame, but now we know what to look out for. Part of the tourist experience I suppose.
Fine food, reservation recommended. Zamburiñas, octopus Galician fashion, percebes, arroz con bogavante (have to order in advance), nice fisherman town, and close to the Playa de las Catedrales.
The favorable reviews here re this restaurant persuaded us to go there to the coastal village of Rinlo close to Ribadeo. On a Saturday at midday. And we were not disappointed. Ensalada pulpo, langostinos a la parilla and almejas a la marinera. Fresh seafood well cooked. All for around 50 euros. Then walk off the meal along the top of the Rinlo cliffs.
We think it's the best rice with a bogavante we've ever tried, and they're not a few. before we had made the reservation by tfno, so nothing else to get there already had our rice ready to eat. the centollo croquettes we asked to start were also very rich. they also offer very rich desserts. cheese and coulant have no less merit. all very good and well served. the waiter, a man of glasses, charming and close. To return and recommend!
First octopus that was very good and second the rice so famous with bogavante. I must recognize that I am not of these lands and therefore the seafood that I have taken away a little from my diet, so it may be that the caldo rice did not know me much, it was not bad but I did not notice to any extent the flavors that the seafood accompanied, besides that I noticed that it was jotito of quantity or size, because I did not take it because the one I chose was not a very attentive waiter. the retretes of pain, the paperwork up and the ladies without paper.
