Description

McCarthy's Bar is an old-world pub near the famous Coolmore stud, attracting a mix of locals and visitors. While some experienced cold service and poor service, most praised the friendly staff, excellent food, and cozy atmosphere. The pictures on the wall showcase famous visitors, adding to the pub's charm. With delicious fish and chips and a welcoming vibe, it's a must-visit spot for traditional Irish pub experience. Although the wine list is basic, the beer is recommended for a perfect meal. McCarthy's Bar comes highly recommended for a memorable dining experience, even for tired travelers in need of a satisfying meal.

My wife and I dined here last Sunday. Our ferry was delayed by five or six hours the previous day as a result of which we didn't get to our bed until about 2.00 am and then had to get up early in order to watch the Grove Horse Trials .We had an excellent day but by 6.00 pm were completely banjaxed and just wanted to get something to eat and then go to sleep. In that context I couldn't praise McCarthy's Bar highly enough. We both had fish and chips and I think we will both remember them as some as the best fish and chips ever! The wine list is basic and I expect the beer is the drink to go for. Service was friendly and efficient

So so so good food and very good service if we were to stay here longer than one day, we would definitely eat here every day

We were there having dinner, the food and also the service were perfect!! You can also take a beer while watching TV with your friends

Group of 4 visiting locally and chanced in. Sunday afternoon. Warm welcome, lovely Guinness. We appreciated the original interior. 1 Burger and 3 different roast dinners. All happy! Very tasty, good portions, well priced, nice service. Unfortunately had no room for dessert! Would recommend.

A group of 10 of us were visiting the area for a cycle event and had heard about McCarthys, we were not disappointed! Exactly what we needed for some post-race nourishment!! It's quirky, full of charm and felt like a genuine old school irish pub/restaurant. We mostly went for the burgers and they definitely didn't disappoint, the rest of the group tell me that the Guinness was exceptional!
