While some dishes lacked flavor, the cheese naan and lamb curry were standout favorites. Despite disappointing experiences with take-out orders, dining in offers delicious options like butter chicken and kadai dishes. The restaurant's patio provides a relaxing setting away from the main tourist area, complete with local beer on tap. Overall, this restaurant is a must-try for those seeking authentic Indian cuisine in the Kootenays, with exceptional dishes like the saag paneer and butter chicken. Top-notch service and generous portions make this a favorite spot in Fernie.
Since moving to Fernie I've had the chance to expand my palate and I must say the Himalayan Spice Bistro is hands down my favourite restaurant when looking for Indian cuisine. Everything from the appetizers to the mains is delicious and so perfectly seasoned and cooked, it it wonderful. Not only that but the prices are so reasonable for the portion size I find myself getting at least two meals out of some dishes. I also super appreciate the option for delivery as i get very anxious and overwhelmed in public spaces so getting to enjoy this wonderful food in the comfort of my own home, while still piping hot, is amazing.Vegetarian options: There is so many vegetarian options and, as someone who likes to cut out meat some days of the week, I cannot explain how much I appreciate the ease of finding something vegetarian, and delicious, on this menu.
While on our ski vacation, my friends and I had a wonderful time at this Indian restaurant. The restaurant's extended hours were perfect for us arriving late in town after a long drive. The food was amazing, especially the Rogan josh which I highly recommend. Bobby, the owner, was very welcoming and took the time to recommend dishes and share stories about his life in Kashmir. It was a lovely evening overall, as the restaurant was not busy.
We have discovered our new favorite restaurant in Fernie! My kids loved the butter chicken so much that we returned for dinner the following night. I ordered the kadai dish and it was amazingly tasty. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the food was worth the wait. It's great that the menu clearly indicates dairy and gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions.
I have eaten at this restaurant several times and have always had a wonderful experience. However, my most recent visit was truly exceptional and deserving of a review. I ordered the Saag Paneer and my husband ordered the butter chicken. Both dishes were outstanding, perfectly spiced and full of delicious flavors. The portion of Naan we received was very generous. We also enjoyed a bottle of Bordeaux wine that complemented our meal perfectly. We were celebrating a special birthday and the service was top-notch. The only thing that kept me from giving a 5-star rating is the absence of non-alcoholic beer on the menu.
So incredibly delicious. We had the aloo tiki to start which was so amazing. And then we shared the Baigan Bharta and Saag Paneer with rice and garlic naan. Both so incredibly delicious. Not too heavy. We got medium spice and it wasn’t aggressive. Subtle but flavourful. The drinks were a great price too and the cider was a great deal. Would definitely come back again. Great place for dinner, drinks, appetizers.
