So being hot and tired we droppe... read more The first place you come to when accessing this lovely town is Piazza del Popolo. And the first cafe you see is Gran Caffe 600. So being hot and tired we dropped into the chairs and ordered 2 draught beers. Hmm.... no draught beers, only bottled. So we asked for Italian bottled. The waitress didn't know which was Italian and tried to sell us a German one . We also ordered the mixed meat and cheese platter. Everything was served quickly and the platter even had some relishes. But the meat selection was poor and the bread stale. But it's the prices that let this place down. Nearly 5 euro per beer and the manager had added on 2 euro because we shared one plate. I refused to pay it on top of the cover charge. The total was still 26 euro for what would have cost us at most 15 euro in Ascoli Piceno. This is madness. The mayor of Fermo should have a word with the manager, as Gran Caffe 600's location inevitably starts your visit to the town with a bitter taste.
