Watermill Lodge - Fermanagh
Watermill Lodge
Description
Nestled in the picturesque Fermanagh countryside, Watermill Lodge remains a cherished destination despite recent challenges. While the restaurant’s ambiance and menu show signs of wear, the exceptional culinary skills of Chef Pascal Brissaud and his dedicated partner, Vanessa, continue to shine. Diners revel in beautifully presented, flavorful dishes, highlighting the establishment’s commitment to quality. However, service inconsistencies and limited gluten-free options have led some loyal patrons to reconsider their visits. Despite heartwarming memories and the stunning lakeside scenery, there’s a palpable hope that the venue will rekindle its former glory and bustling atmosphere.

This is my second day in northern ireland! So far I'm amazed by the local cuisine! We ate in the watermill Lodge and what an experience! Food was absolutely beautiful 10 out of 10! What a beautiful restaurant! Only have 1 day left or I'd love to eat here again! 5* thanks again for your hospitality!
In my previous review, I mentioned how much we enjoyed this restaurant and had been coming here every year for over a decade. Unfortunately, our recent experience was disappointing. The owner, Pascal, was away on a fishing trip and the two people in charge did not seem to know how to properly run a restaurant. My wife has a gluten allergy, but both the server and the chef seemed unaware of what gluten-free options were available. This made us hesitant to order from the limited menu. The only options for starters were soup or tomato and mozzarella. For the main course, we could choose between fried fish or beef, but we were unsure if the beef sauce was gluten-free. This left my wife with only plain fried fish as an option. Dessert was either cake (full of gluten) or a scoop of ice cream. The following morning, my wife's breakfast consisted of a small portion of mushrooms, half a fried tomato, and a fried egg. We decided to go into Enniskillen for a proper breakfast instead. After supporting this business for over a decade and spending over £200 on this supposed 'gourmet' stay, we will not be returning. There are many better hotels in Enniskillen that offer good gluten-free options at a lower cost.
Stayed for four nights on a fishing trip. This is my third visit over the last year. To find such a little gem as this in the middle of Fermanagh is very unusual and a real treat. Pascal is Michelin trained, a very fine host and cooks delicious and creative food. We understood the post-Covid situation about not being able to find sufficient and reliable staff in the local area, but i hope that this is just a phase that will be overcome. The on site accommodation is great. Good sized rooms, many with lake views. The fishing operation is also very good. Marine, the boat man, is super friendly and knows his business. The lake is huge and lovely, even though the fish were hiding for us! We will return.
We were a party of 4 who enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Water Mill , Lisnaskea. The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented! We had a very charming, attentive and efficient waitress who, although, at one point during the evening had quite a few tables to take care of , maintained the exceptional service with a smile! The Water Mill offers a fabulous dining experience and a haven of peaceful tranquility in a truly beautiful setting it is lovely to have a conversation without having to shout …..and is very deserving of both local and visitor support as once again the hospitality industry faces yet more challenges.
I stayed at Watermill in July for a fishing trip with old friends, the location is beautiful, the fishing facilities including very well equipped boats were superb but the highlight was the welcome and amazing food from Pascal and his superb team who looked after our group perfectly from full Irish breakfast through to Michelin standard dinner. We will be back!
