Went there tonight knowing I was 86'd but it had been a year since I had gone there since I got banned, I was just seeing if I could catch up with everyone that use to go back there in the day. I personally never got told I was 86'd but my friend did(I may sound like an **** with that statement but this is my hometown bar that I have many great memories at). I got 86'd for the reason I went downstairs and took a beer out of the beer cooler when everyone else did it but my friend and I just happened to get caught on camera. We sat down, waited about 5 minutes until a customer started screaming for a bartender. Bartender, manager or server, came up, grabbed drinks without checking our IDs, served us our drinks. She then found her other co-worker and talked to her in the kitchen, (obviously talking about us). After a minute or two they both walk over and ask our names. We respond, then they ask my friend her last name and she tells them. They tell her that she is 86'd and needs to get out. They did not recognize me because I didn't live there when this incident happened. But the fact that they served us knowing that my friend was banned and then told her she was 86'd is not how one should run a bar. If I was the owner I would be concerned for my business being in the hands of someone who serves a customer that they know is 86'd. I'm sad to say that my favorite hometown bar is something I never want to visit again.
The ownership of this restaurant has changed, and so has the overall atmosphere. It's been repainted and decluttered, with flat-screen TVs, specialty drinks, and improved lighting adding to the new vibe. I snapped a picture of the latest menu and prices, and I can confidently say it doesn't feel like a dingy dive bar anymore. They've introduced some interesting events and decent specials. The food quality seems to have improved as well. They've also added 4 oz and 8 oz burger options, which is great. I'm really starting to enjoy this place again, though I hope they don't bring back that awful taco bar! I'm feeling optimistic that I'll be returning more frequently. They serve good burgers, including Juicy Lucy burgers, but watch out for the cheese! I believe this is my third review of this place, and I’m genuinely pleased to see it improving. It was in dire need of a refresh. Perhaps I'll see you there!
