This restaurant offers a fantastic variety of products at competitive prices. Be sure to try the chicken and seafood salads, as well as the freshly made donuts. Young children will really enjoy watching the animatronics sing and dance! View all feedback.
What Daymond Walford doesn't like about Stew Leonard's:
The restaurant's maze-like layout is intriguing, but the singing animals give off an unsettling vibe—seriously, what was the reasoning behind that? The store's motto is "the customer is always right," and I'm considering putting this claim to the test during my next visit. View all feedback.
Went into the store pretty late, bakery was closed and I asked if we can get writing on the cake. Nobody on staff was able to write on the cake but Rob who I believe is a manager took me to the bakery section and showed me all of their different cake toppers and fun rings they use to decorate their cakes/cupcakes. He took the time to sort through the bags and ensured that our cake looked amazing for our niece. Needless to say she loved it! Hard to come across that type of service.
As an Upstate New Yorker it’s hard for me to get excited for a grocery store that isn’t Wegman’s. Stew Leonard’s blew my mind. As soon as I walked in there was a talking cow, then a monkey on a trapeze. The whole place smells like candy apples. It was like an acid trip. I come here mostly for lunch, and the hot bar usually has a good variety. Great coffee too.
This place is definitely a unique food shopping experience. It’s great for kids and families, there is an interactive theme through out. I truly like this place and the wine next door is a great buy as well.
Yesterday afternoon I stopped by to grab my favorite chips. They were not in stock so I ended up purchasing a fruit bowl and a case of San Pellegrino water at the self checkout. As I was walking out a young store employee yells ma 'am , ma 'am , ma 'am very loudly. As I turned around she approached me and asked Where is your receipt . My hands were full so I walked back to the checkout machine and put the items down. The actual young man working the self checkout was giving me a paid stickers since that is what I apparently needed. The young lady stood in-front of him and told him no. At that moment I got my confirmation, she didn 't think I paid for my items. I showed her my receipt then she went and got me the paid sticker. I felt racially profiled. I have no idea where this woman came from because she was not working self checkout. No-one else in self checkout was asked to show their receipt or was blocked from getting a paid sticker. I felt embarrased by how this woman publicly humiliated me by making it seem like I was stealing. I did everything right and correct and was forced to go back to self checkout and prove the purchase of my two items. If everyone is supposed to be watched in self check out then do that and you don 't have to wonder if I paid. There is a break down in the system here.
The prices at this restaurant can be steep for some items, while others are competitively priced. The selection isn't extensive, but they offer several brands, including their own house brand, which usually provides the best value without compromising on quality—most of the time, anyway. We tend to purchase their products. The butcher section offers high-quality items and will trim and cut to order, which is always a nice touch. The cheese and seafood departments feature fresh products and a good variety. The main drawback at Stew's is the difficulty of maneuvering through the cluttered aisles. However, the staff is friendly and helpful.
