When it came time to get the bill, however, an argument with the cashier over how everyone paid ruined a wonderful evening. Having ordered a very expensive rib-eye steak, it didn 't seem right to pay Roman style and pass the cost on to someone who had only ordered a €9.50 entree. The clerk used decidedly impolite language to express her opinion. It would have been enough to phrase the sentence differently, without huffing or making irritated gestures. The customer isn 't always right, but you have to know what to say and how to behave.
