Situated on the boulevard along the beach, I discovered this ti... read more Last summer on my way from Belgium to Greece, I made a stop in Fano, about 15km north of Ancona. Situated on the boulevard along the beach, I discovered this tipical italian restaurant, where mainly locals gather for lunch or diner. With the terrace-windows open wide, I hade a great pasta with clams and schrimps together with some tastefull local white wine, while enjoying the cozy bustle on the boulevard. The owner Paolo is realy a sweet and generous guy who treats his customers as family. In brief, this place is realy worth passing by !

We shared a warm octopus starter and then had a plate of fried calamari, prawns little fish and a plate of grilled prawn calamari skewers with a side of fries and a shared strawberry cheesecake together with a bottle of chilled verdicchio. It was all fantastic and so tasty we would definitely recommend eating here.

The last few years has seen the introduction of modern Italian cuisine at AlMere and Il Galeone. These restaurants are good and I understand the need for a fresh approach. However Mamadera for me is the quintessential Italian seafood restaurant fresh, perfectly cooked and presented. Today I had sea bass baked in the oven with potatoes olives thyme and tomatoes. The small but key ingredient was a little orange zest which just lifted it into heavenly. I wont go on about the mussel soup with thyme and exquisite toasted bread. Everything about Mamadera is special. The staff are wonderful and so efficient. There were only 2 on today but they did 50 covers at lunch with grace and kindness. Tutto, tutto bene.

The carbonara of seafood was delicious. In fact enjoyed it all. Look out for the owners black french bulldog, she`s a cutey.
