The sushi was delicious and freshly prepared, but the rolls seemed a bit small for the price. I normally feel full after two rolls, but had to eat three here. I also tried the peach ginger tea, which was delicious. The waitresses were friendly and checked on me regularly. The restaurant had a good atmosphere with great background music. It's a perfect place to go when you're super hungry and ready to order more food. View all feedback.
What Lilian Kong doesn't like about Takumi:
We used to like Takumi and dined in and ordered pick up many times. However, at our most recent visit, it was disappointing. While the quality of the fish was okay (a bit tasteless though), the topping on the nigiri was either boring or way too much overwhelming. But the worst part was the sushi rice. It was flavorless, mushy, and cold (not room temperature). And it felt like normal rice was used instead of the short... View all feedback.
The service is fast, the staff is courteous and above all the sushi is bursting with flavor and authentic.I will go back again occasionally to try their other rolls and savor different flavorful and fresh sushiI took one star away because of the portion size! The sushi is tiny: the size of 4 rolls here is equivalent to 2 from other mainstream sushi places. I guess you get what you pay for: higher grade sushi, smaller portion for higher price.
Jay has been a friend of mine since he first opened up. I was a client from day 1. His fish is the most fresh, exotic yet simple. His presentation is so beautiful “you want to look rather than eat it.” If you want a taste of Tokyo in an unassuming yet upscale restaurant, Takumi is your next destination. Japanese oysters, Uni from California..you name it, Jay gets it. It’s not the fish so much as it is the rice. True connoisseurs know it when they see it. His second in command is also an amazing Chef. He has been in Arlington and trained in DC. Bon Appetite.
Went here for the first time on a date. Blew my mind. Best sushi I have ever experienced. Melt in your mouth, eye rolling, wow. Service impeccable. Get sashimi or nigiri and go light on the soy sauce, the sushi is the star and doesn't need anything else. Parking: Few spots around back
The lunch specials here are amazing. Delicious, generously portioned and reasonably priced!

It was flavorless, mushy, and cold (not room temperature). And it felt like normal rice was used instead of the short grain sushi rice. No seasoning with vinegar, salt, sugar etc either. My little one even made a comment how the sushi rice I cook was better. Sadly, we did not enjoy our nigiri. The uni calamari pasta was decent albeit the uni was so-so with butter taste. The price these days just doesn't reflect the low quality of the food there. Kid-friendliness: Kids training chopstick tool.
