Service can be hit or miss, but the food is fast and tasty. Some reviewers enjoyed the smoky ambiance that comes with the sizzling hot stone, while others found it off-putting. Despite some service hiccups for a few customers, most had positive experiences with excellent food and a clever dining concept. With prompt seating and friendly waitstaff, Gaucho's is a top choice for a memorable meal in the St. Louis area.
Delicious food and a beautiful atmosphere! We are happy to return.
Eating was great, but make sure to ask a pointed reception before adding tip. We were 5 of us and doubled them. $60 Tip for $170 Bill, not fun.
At first, the food was good, but nothing special. My biggest complaint is the type of presentation. Your steak is brought to you on a hot stone, so you have cooked it as you want. Sounds like a great idea, right? For starters, the server says you cut off a piece of your steak and how long you cook each side to get the desired temperature, but what about the rest of the steak? It is still on the same hot skirt cooking while you eat every bite. I rarely like my steak medium, and the ones I ordered came to me almost completely. So while eating it, there was a piece of shoe leather sitting out on the cooking surface while I ate it. Bringing a plate to put the steak would have avoided this problem. My only biggest complaint is the fact that the dining room with this kind of presentation becomes a kitchen. The floor was from the fat sprayer and at the end of the meal so was our table and my shirt. So don't wear anything you care about here. There is a reason to wear barbecue kitchens, it is chaotic. Imagine coming here with your special person for the first time and covered with fat.
We waited nearly ten minutes to even get greeted! We were sat with no menus. Waited another eight minutes to be asked if we had been helped. Server then gave us menus and water and told us she was just too busy to take care of us and she was going to see if anyone could take us. Waited another five minutes. Nothing. We decided to then leave. So disappointed in this. Would have loved to try the food. Just respond to know that we are there!
Although the steaks on stone were expensive, they were really good!! It is our new go-to special occasion place.
