It pains me to deduct a star, but our entrees were less than desirable. Small portions and little flavor. Everything seemed to need salt, but alas there was none at the table. The redeeming qualities are: delicious appetizers we had the shrimp tacos and tavern tots, nice atmosphere, and decent service. View all feedback.
What Zachary Laird doesn't like about Burntwood Tavern Fairlawn:
I ordered takeout over the phone, and the hostess informed me that it would be ready "soon." Normally, I receive a specific time to pick up my food. When I arrived 30 minutes later, my order wasn't ready. I ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes in the restaurant. I didn’t expect it to take over an hour to prepare just two sandwiches and a small portion of fries. When I finally got my food, I was disappointed to f... View all feedback.
Lively place even in the mid afternoon. Good, standard fast casual food.
Server / Waitress was not known about food or drinks. Served a very hot dish right to quest without warning it was HOT. The food was bad. Lettuce was brown. Chicken sandwich was hard. Hamburger wasn't the best. Never been asked to refill my water. Wasn't asked if we were interested in Dessert.
Chicken flours were not good. Quality of chicken was rough.
I'll start out that it was mother's day so I figured every place would be slow and was prepared for spotty service THE GOOD Party of 5 was seated quickly, but the place was half full at most at 7pm which set off alarmbl bells THE BAD Table was filthy. They brought out appetizers without any plates or silverware. Strawberry daiquiri was yellow, not sure how that happens. It did have 10% of a smashed Strawberry in the glass bit the liquid was yellow. They were out of about 20% of the entrées. Forgot one of the drinks for 30 minutes after appetizers and another drink was received. Food took 65 minutes to come out. The steak was beyond rare when ordered medium rare, The fish tacos had a 1.5 inch piece of overcooked unseasoned fish in three tacos and no salt or pepper on the table to fix their mistakes. The coleslaw was warm and unseasoned, it was so bad I spit it out. Who serves warm coleslaw? And the show stopper, they ran out of ketchup. 60% of the meals there are served with fries, THEY ARE NEXT DOOR TO A WALMART AND SAM'S CLUB. HOW DO YOU NOT SEND SOMEONE TO PICK UP KETCHUP. Me teacher me, you dont do it when the leadership is lazy which is exactly what this whole experience wreaked of laziness. This was an exercise in showing mothers everywhere how not to be treated.
We were surprised to be notified by our server upon arrival that literally 1/3 of the appetizers and more than one half of the entrees on the menu were unavailable. It was a 7:00 p.m. reservation on the night of Mother's Day, but you would think that adequate resources would have been available knowing that a busy day was forthcoming. Unfortunately for me both the appetizer and main dish that I was anticipating ordering were not available. However, the food that we did order was excellent. We were then asked by our server if we wanted dessert, and three very good sounding options were presented. In what was an almost comical turn of events after two of us ordered the molten chocolate lava cake the server returned 5 minutes later and told us that they were out of the molten lava cake. She then highly recommended a vanilla bean dessert and we decided to try it. As you might guess, and much to our chagrin, she returned empty-handed and informed us that the vanilla being dessert was also unavailable. I felt sorry for our server because she had to continually apologize for the mistakes and unpreparedness exhibited by management. We tipped her generously as her performance as a server was exceptional. We are probably hesitant to visit again, although we understand holidays can turn into problematic events at restaurants.
