Description

Agave Cocina Mexicana, located in Fairhope, AL, presents a varied dining experience that evokes strong opinions. While some patrons rave about their flavorful dishes like carne asada tacos and unique appetizers such as clobular avocado dip, others lament a decline in food quality, highlighting issues like greasy alambres and poorly seasoned entrees. Service is a mixed bag, with some guests praising friendly staff while others report rudeness. Despite an inconvenient credit card fee, recommendations flood in for cash payments and specific menu items. Overall, Agave remains a beloved spot for many, though it faces increasing scrutiny.

I had a beef taco salad, it had a lot of beef in it and was very good. My husband had beef fajita's and it seemed like it was mostly onions and peppers. My sister in law had chicken nachos with grilled onions and it looked good. My brother in law had a fish dish, he said it was tasty but not a large amount. So overall we were satisfied. If you pay cash you get a slight discount and if you use a credit card you pay 3.25 more on your bill.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Baldwin County! You have my favorite chips, salsa and queso all time! I also love their chicken breast lunch especially without spinach, it is heavenly! Great service and affordable for large portions!

Third time's a charm! On the evening of January 3rd, the temperature dropped and it was quite chilly outside. I went in and enjoyed a margarita on the rocks with salt, along with a huge bowl of Sopa Pollo.

We ate outside on the patio. The restaurant was very crowded for the middle of the week but service was spot-on and food was delivered promptly and beautifully prepared. Just as important everything tasted great.

I really dislike it when a restaurant adds a 3.5% fee for credit card payments. We should have left at that point, but we stayed because everyone was eager to eat. The margarita was just average, priced at $13.99 for a medium size, and they didn’t display their drink prices. It tasted overwhelmingly sweet and syrupy. The alambres were simply shrimp topped with bacon, and I found them unimpressive. While the hostess was rude, our server was friendly. One of my companions couldn’t finish their burrito, which was mostly rice rather than meat, and they didn’t enjoy it. The carne asada tacos were decent, but the credit card fee really soured the experience for me and set a negative tone for the meal.
