Dinner was a leisurely affair; we indicated that we were enjoying ourselves, and our server timed their visits perfectly. The shrimp cocktail came with house-made cocktail sauce, not the store-bought kind. The Italian dressing on the salad was similarly fresh. The salad itself was crisp, fresh, and well-prepared. I ordered the veal cutlet parmigiana “alla Vallata,” which features a slice of eggplant on top of the breaded and fried cutlet. It was cooked flawlessly—neither soggy nor under-seasoned. It was served with a side of spaghetti, and the red sauce was outstanding. It's the kind of sauce I always try to replicate at home but can never quite get right, unlike the fine restaurants. My wife chose the chicken piccata, her favorite dish at Italian restaurants, and it did not disappoint. It looked wonderful, and she told me it was one of the best she had ever eaten. The Vallata truly is a gem in the Goldstream Valley.
Absolutely disgusting. Manicotti was sitting in a dish of water and sauce. NY steak was overdone and actually burnt, seafood plate looked like it was boiled and tastelessness.
Absolutely some of the worst food I've ever had... And that says a lot. When our party of 5 had their almost full plates removed and didnt want it to go you think they might have asked if everything was ok... Inedible, old, really disappointing.
The Vallata, located out on the edge of Fairbanks at 2190 Goldstream Road, is a restaurant that my wife and I save for special occasions. My wife and I have been eating at the Vallata for over 20-years. This visit was to celebrate our two birthdays (one week apart) and we arrived before they opened for the evening so we could sit at our favorite table. True to form we accomplished just that. I am going to make a point here. We were the first guests to enter the Vallata, and we were the only ones there for awhile. So the kitchen staff were not overwhelmed with a large numbers of orders to cook. I ordered a New York Steak cooked medium rare. When my steak arrived it was cooked ' very well done '. I called our server over and told her that I had ordered my steak medium rare. She agreed this is how I specified my steak to be cooked. When she saw my steak, she immediately whisked it away and said how sorry she was. All 's well that ends well. My second steak was cooked to medium rare perfection. The ambiance at the Vallata is so pleasant. Our server was very professonal. Our salads and side dishes were great. So too was my second steak. The Vallata is a tad on the ' pricey ' side of things but not overly expensive in today 's costs. We recommend the Vallata for special occasions.
My husband and I ate at the Vallata last Saturday. I had veal Marsala; he veal parmigiana Vallata. My plate was mostly the pasta side dish. There were about 6 wafer-thin pieces of veal which could have each been covered by a Ritz cracker. No mushrooms or other ingredients. The price: $29. I doubt there was more than 2 oz of meat. Grossly overpriced. My husband's dish was much more generous, and he was very satisfied. I definitely will not order this again, nor do I plan to return any time soon.
