The food was amazing! They have the best Ruben sandwich in town. The outdoor deck is large and serene. The service was excellent. I will definitely be returning! This is now my favorite spot to dine! View all feedback.
What Nik O doesn't like about Edge:
The restaurant is a bit inconsistent these days. The staff is friendly and welcoming, but the food doesn't live up to the standards of the past. I miss the old menu and longer hours. Please bring back the brunch and pint glass mimosas! View all feedback.
The nachos had what tasted looked like canned cheese sauce, 2 out of 4 meals had pet hair in the food. The service was good but the food was bland.
Previously known as the Double Eagle, The Edge Restaurant is settled off Farmers Loop on a Local golf course. The majority of people huddled around the bar, while the small restaurant had 10-12 covers which felt almost like a full house. We sat ourselves. The waitress quickly hustled around from table to table and took our drink orders relatively quick. The menu is small, which is not a terrible thing, in fact, I prefer smaller menus. I believe that shows the restaurants confidence in the food they serve. I ordered the $29 steak, medium rare, with potatoes and a vegetable medley and a starter salad, she ordered a halibut caesar. Periodically throughout the 1 hour wait for our food the waitress would profusely apologize. Eventually the appetizer came out. Nachos. The size was generous and really would not have been bad if not for the cold meat and the luke warm cheese. I couldn't help but think the nachos had been sitting on the counter waiting for pick up. Damn. Disappointing. When the starter salad plate arrived 5 minutes later, I was again disappointed. Lettuce, minimal onions and a sprinkle of diced cucumber with a single large slice of tomato placed in the center. Where the grape tomatoes at? Where the croutons? Spinach? After the starter salad, came the steak. Again, not overly impressed or excited. I was just left with a feeling of wanting more! (And not in a good way). The steak was cooked just as I ordered and the potatoes looked fancy. The potatoes were Warm, not hot, again like they had been sitting under a warming light for a period of time. The most disappointing item on this plate was the sorry excuse for a vegetable medley. Several sliced peppers and some snap peas sautéed and left alone in the corner of the plate. Why not plate a vegetable medley with some balls? Include carrots, broccoli, asparagus, zucchini.. Her halibut caesar was garbage. Cold halibut hacked up into tiny pieces and shuffled into the lettuce and soggy croutons. Could have been cod for all we know. And again, hamburger tomato's laid across the salad. Overall, I'd come again. Just don't plan for a quick meal or quality portions. Skip the salads.
While in the neighborhood, we decided to grab dinner here. It was getting late and our options were limited. I had tried the Double Eagle a few times in the past and my camp agreed we would never be back. Then we discovered the restaurant had changed into The Edge, so we figured we should try again. I had average expectations, and noticed the menu was smaller (and simpler) than most dinner menus. We ordered steak tips, Cubano sandwich with onion rings, and chicken strips. My friends found a couple Alaskan beers on draft and ordered those, while I had a lemonade. It was obviously a fountain beverage, no frills, a bit watered down, and came in a cafeteria style plastic cup. As we were the only people in the restaurant at the time, our order came out quickly. I was happy with the portions and plating of the food. The onion rings were attractive, big, and crunchy. The Cubano was good, but the pork part should have been grilled on a flat top to achieve a bit of yummy pork crispiness, and rid itself of unwanted water (it appears the meat was frozen). The steak bits were tender and the brown gravy sauce was savory and came with mushrooms garlic bread; a size proper for a light meal. Chicken strips were perfectly fried and the sauces tasted better than average, as did the French fries. I was really impressed at their version of such a basic dish! I don't have much to say about the service except for it was adequate, and timely. The views of the golf course provide a pleasant, peaceful setting for enjoying a meal. The only disruption were the mosquitoes. The insects had flown inside the restaurant from the open doors, and had descended upon us. I know they are everywhere during the summer months, but their presence was still pretty annoying nonetheless. Try The Edge for a quiet beer after work, a reasonably priced bite to eat, or to watch a game on tv.
Let me start out by saying that this restaurant is what Fairbanks needed. The service was awesome greeted when waked in and with a wave and a smile! Walked in with one thing in mind and it was let's satisfy this hunger and this place delivered. I ordered the buffalo wings for starters great price and great quantity and even better quality. The flavor was so rich and there was alot of meet on those bones. Served with blue cheese dressing made from scratch by the chef served with carrots and celery on the side. Next I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich with my choice of onion rings very flavorfull fresh ingredients perfectly cooked and fast delivery they couldn't have done any better. And that's why I will continue to return and bring friends and family to this establishment!! I will recommend this restaurant to everyone I know that wants to be satisfied
Love the team at this property. The cheese curds are really good. Great beer selection. Looking forward to summer
