Buffet City - Exeter
Buffet City
Description
Buffet City offers a diverse and appealing menu, enticing many with its reasonable prices and extensive selection. While some diners praise the freshness of the food and attentive service, others have faced significant frustrations due to inconsistent opening hours and difficult communication. Complaints about rude staff and poor food quality have surfaced, leaving some patrons disheartened. It's advisable for potential visitors to confirm operating hours before heading out, given the recent trend of unexpected closures. While it caters well to certain crowds, the restaurant’s reliability appears inconsistent, urging diners to weigh their options carefully.

On the 5th March 2022 I went to the buffet town in exeter, after two years not there. I have seen some reviews, so not quite sure what to expect. I am happy to say that you eat is even better than last time, and as a person who worked for a chinese take away two years I know a bit about Chinese food. let me first say that the staff is very friendly and helpful. also eating was very tasty and even. better than last time. yes, the price has risen, but so everything else has increased. please try this wonderful restaurant and enjoy it.
Superb buffet for most, if not all palettes. they eat as much as they like, as often as they like. the best is to have small portions to give them the choices. excellent table service clearing used crockery and cutlery. good value for money.
I was shocked that some recent reviews were so poor and wonder if it depends what day you go we went on a Sunday lunchtime and the food couldn’t have been fresher or more tasty. The teenagers could go back to the counter as many times as they liked, the 9 year old enjoyed the freedom of choosing his own food and without being asked they took the trouble to prepare something especially for my mother who has a specific food allergy, The place was spotless and no one bothered us in 2 hours, a great experience
After enjoying a nice meal during a prior visit, we decided to plan another visit to the restaurant. However, our experience this time around was disappointing. The restaurant's opening hours are inconsistent across different websites, making it difficult to determine if they will be open or closed. Unfortunately, our attempts to contact the restaurant by phone were unsuccessful, as we were met with continuous ringing, an unavailable signal, or being promptly disconnected after the phone was answered. This lack of communication is frustrating, especially when one is willing to travel to dine at the establishment. It seems that the restaurant may not value its customers, which is disheartening. Overall, we were left feeling disappointed and let down by this experience.
For the third time this year we have travelled some distance to enjoy Buffet City only to find the premises are closed for some reason or another. We 've tried phoning in advance but the phone never gets answered, in fact they dont appear to have a landline visible in the restaurant. We have previously found the buffet excellent value for money but to turn up and find it closed when it 's advertised as open on social media etc. and they don 't answer calls is unacceptable. Today we tried to call, no answer and when we arrived tonight 's excuse for not opening was 'closed for refurbishment '. In view of our experience we would advise no one travels here unless you know for sure it is open, to avoid disappointment. There are plenty of other good establishments in the area that treat their regular customers better than this.
