We arranged a large group of people to have lunch here in the knowledge that they could quite easily deal with us and not neglect their other clients. Sure enough that proved to be the case.This is a slightly more upmarket restaurant - table cloths and changes of cutlery - so just a tad more expensive. It is worth it for that extra something. What User doesn't like about Le Fin Chapon:
We sat outside on a warm summer evening. The ambiance was nice, the service was good, and the prices were reasonable. The food, however, was a mixed bag. My wife and I both had the duck breast, which was very tough. The starter plate with foie gras and smoked duck was very nice. It is a pity that there is no really good option for dining out in Excideuil as it is a very charming town. View all feedback.
I've known the end chapon for more than 15 years, and since the owners of the time, we're staying in a mediocre, the catcher-tourist, the poor quality ratio. The location is certainly attractive, especially after the Thursday market and offers a beautiful terrace. Perigord cuisine is revisited asian way: I expected to chill and rise. We were a beautiful troupe, and I tasted the dishes of each one: fade, non-relevé, for a prohibitive price for the region: (cfr le litre.) I planned to feast with the snails: there were 4 tiny in the plate, bathing in a fade sauce, away from the sauces to the tasted garlic. The same applies to Asian soups.
Pleasant terrace very good reception mail prices : 67 € to 2 for dishes . my husband's fish was secle foie gras apparently sweet ?? finally a special taste that makes me not eat it. I've been living for over 30 years the perigord and I know what the foie gras is to end up in beauty: thank you picard!!! for the melting with a clear chocolate; acceptable for 30 € but not for 60!!
Lovely traditional French hotel , the at Le Fin Chapin are really helpful , we arrived st in the evening and was able to eat in the restaurant , the play was euro for courses great food . Would recommend and will...visit again
We have been staying near Excideuil for three years and always admired the terrace of this hotel/restaurant. We were a party of five and were welcomed by the waiter ,who turned out to be english and was very understanding about our stumbling french efforts. I...chose a salad (imaginaire) which had local foie-gras ,goats cheese and a very good mix of other ingredients. I really enjoyed it . The rest of the party had steak which was cooked as requested and was well received . A very nice evening .
We recently had lunch here and it was ok, because of the mixed reviews of the food. We were welcomed by a friendly hostess and sat at our table. The interior is basic, tables small, chairs not the most comfy. We decided for a main...course instead of the menu's. I had a platter which was quite ok: foie gras, a few slices of margret de canard, a bit of cheese, salad and a lot of cooked potatoes. My wife had the ris de veau: tiny little pieces with automatically too much bread crumbs didn't bring much joy. One shouldn't serve such a high class dish this way. A bit of an insult to the French kitchen. Limited wine offer with decent prices. Staff very friendly.
