I used to enjoy coming here for the seasoned fries and a beer, but it seems they've removed the fries from the menu!? They were my favorite.
The beer is fantastic, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the service is excellent! As for parking, I found a spot on the street.
I visited with a large group for a pub crawl. The food looked delicious, and the atmosphere was lively. The jukebox (Touchtunes) added to the fun, and the bartenders were excellent. Overall, it was a great experience. I would definitely consider returning if I'm in the area again.
The food is amazing and Troy the bartender (the bald one) makes the best ****** marys and old fashioneds in town. A great home town feel, reminds me of Cheers. The grilled cheese prime rib sandwich is the best sammy in town. The hand breaded wings are also the best in town.
To Laurie Benson... I assume you don't see the irony of judging other people as being judgemental. If you have a problem with the patrons of haskell, it's you with the problem.
Nestled in downtown EXCELSIOR, this restaurant exudes a dive bar charm that contrasts with its upscale surroundings. While it boasts a welcoming atmosphere and occasional unique specials, reviews reflect a mixed experience. Patrons praise the fantastic burgers and efficient service, as well as the engaging ambiance perfect for people-watching. However, some highlight issues with food quality, likening it to bland school cafeteria fare, and concerns over service, particularly related to racial profiling. Overall, it offers a local dining experience worth exploring, especially for those who enjoy classic bar food and a lively community vibe.

Phenomenal! The service was great! The food was AMAZING! We called ahead and made a reservation. Outdoor and indoor dining areas are available now. We were on the side of the building, outdoor seating, it wasn't too chilly due to the building blocking the wind off the lake. Definitely call ahead and make reservations. They are very busy. The parking is paid parking on the street. The food is very reasonable and large portions. Very fresh and delicious! You can tell the cooks were happy when creating their masterpieces! The atmosphere and energy is extraordinarily friendly. Very inviting, what an exiting time to get to eat out and enjoy friends and family!
Went for Lunch with My Favorite Aunt. Kind of spendy but the Grilled Cheese with tomato was amazing and it is in Excelsior after all. Wait staff was super nice, prompt and efficient! Clearing the table and making sure our drinks were full- this is a lost art at some restaurants but these guys nailed it! Thank you for a nice afternoon!
I’m really pleased with this place. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was well-prepared and unique for a sports bar. Plus, the view was absolutely wonderful.
The restaurant has a wonderful ambiance, delicious burgers with fries, and stunning views. If you're looking to experience a bit of Excelsior, make sure to stick around for Bingo on Saturday or visit on a late Thursday to play some pull tabs.
Food and service was great, pulltabs, darts . Small bar atmosphere, but was a lot of fun. Been there many times, still one of my favorites.

I dined there on the 4th of July and enjoyed sitting outside to watch the parade. I ordered the prime rib sandwich, which was served promptly and tasted excellent. The server was friendly, and even though the restaurant was busy, she provided efficient service.
I absolutely love this place! The food is fantastic, and the servers and bartenders are wonderful—especially Molly. She is a true professional, and I always hope she’s the one serving me. You should definitely come in and give it a try; you’ll likely become a regular!
Extremely rude waitress. Came in at 3:30pm on June 13th. I believe she was the only waitress working but that does not explain her behavior. I started out with ordering drinks with my friends and I. She immediately brought us our check before we could ever order food. She tried to ‘verify’ my friends card who is non white, clearly profiling him as she did not ask to verify any other cards. I asked the only other staff member I could find, if I could have a different waitress due to this and to my surprise, she was the only one. Leaving now! Don’t come here unless you want to be profiled based on age and race. I am aswell a server and would NEVER treat anyone this way. Definitely not tipping her either. Just asked and her name is Molly.
Great burgers and other bar food, as well as some nutritional options. Fast and prompt servers and a short wait for our food. Drinks are also reasonably priced!
This is one of my favorite local spots. I have always had great service, and the food is good. I have tried the favorite items on the menu and have to agree they are some of my favorite bar foods in the area. The grilled cheese with prime rib is a really great choice. The inside is kind of small and it can be crowded at times, but certainly not a reason to skip this place. In the summer it has great outdoor seating -perfect place to stop if you are on the bike trail.

Look! You wanna go people watch, this is your place to be! This is a first come, first serve, seat yourself kind of place. The way they have the outside setup, is like a hightop bar that wraps the corner of the street. So, as people walk and drive by, or,people coming off the lake cruises, you can watch it all go down. So, send somebody to save a spot, grab some food and drink, orlike me, go nextdoor to the winner shop and buy a bottle and have them cork out for you for $5 and watch all the magic happen!!!
Recently, I visited Haskell's with a few friends for drinks. You might think that Haskell's would have a more varied, local, and intriguing selection of craft beers, but the reality is quite different. Their beer offerings are rather standard, so don’t expect anything too special. If you’re looking for craft beer in Excelsior, I suggest heading over to The Suburban. Since Haskell's is mainly recognized for its beverages, particularly wine rather than food, you probably won't have high expectations for their menu, and that's perfectly fine. The menu is fairly typical, but it gets the job done, keeping in mind that this is primarily a bar serving food—not an upscale dining destination. I do find it somewhat strange, and even amusing, that the outdoor seating faces the sidewalk. When pedestrians walk by, it feels a bit like you’re on display, a bit reminiscent of a medieval heckler lane. But maybe that’s just me. That being said, Haskell's is the only spot in Excelsior that successfully creates a relaxed atmosphere with simple food that reminds you of a small Minnesota resort town. I would rate it a 4 out of 5, largely due to some inconsistent service and the outdoor ambiance (be prepared for some cigarette smoke if you choose to sit outside).
Overhyped. The food at this restaurant is just standard bar fare, but in an unappealing way. It takes me back to school cafeteria meals—tasteless and overcooked. Although the longtime regulars who've been coming for 40 years seem to still enjoy it, I think any other restaurant in Excelsior provides much better quality dishes.
Excellent food! This place has an authentic dive bar atmosphere. The chefs genuinely invest care into their dishes and they feature some unique specials. You definitely have to try the prime rib grilled cheese!
