J C Teriyaki - Ewing
J C Teriyaki
Description
A comforting soul-food spot known for fresh, crispy fish, generous dinner platters and warm, respectful service—ideal for travelers and regulars seeking a hearty lunch or takeout. Strengths include well-cooked catfish, hot portions and friendly staff; weaknesses are inconsistent seasoning and uneven side quality (tough collards, chewy corn, overly sweet potato salad), occasional small wings and fries that lack crispness. Guests may want to request extra-crispy fries or inquire about gravy options.

Feedback
The food was absolutely delightful, and the portions were quite generous! I ordered the catfish accompanied by collard greens and black-eyed peas. It was the P5 Catfish Dinner. The fish arrived crisp and fresh.
The fish was wonderful, just like always. However, I tried the Collard Greens for the first time and found them tough and lacking in seasoning, which was quite disappointing. The potato salad was overly sweet, almost as if it had added sugar. I won't be ordering that again, but I will definitely continue to enjoy my usual fish dish.
The P31 Chicken Wings were tasty but quite small. The fries weren't as crispy as I hoped, but since it was my first time ordering, I'll remember to request crispy fries next time. The Fillet of Whiting fish is always enjoyable when it's served hot—it's nicely crispy.
The H1 Hibachi Chicken is amazing, and the portions are quite generous. Definitely worth the money!
The corn was a bit too chewy, and I'm not sure what happened to the yams—they used to be fantastic, but now they taste like just plain baked or boiled sweet potatoes. In our previous order, the lima beans were also quite hard. I’m sharing this feedback so that you’re aware; if no one speaks up, how will you know? I truly enjoy your restaurant.
