Quick service, friendly staff, tasty food, nice athmosphere. I recommend this place. A very important thing that the restaurant was open in the afternoon when the others were closed. A big plus for the extra glas of liguer shot.
Excellent food. The cooking is traditionally based but imaginative. Very low prices and charming service from our waitress.
Excellent food, attentive service...we were lured in by diners just inside the door who told us the food was very very good. They were right! We had black pork with pureed sweet potato and spinach, and a baked rolled sea bass and asparagus with orange sauce. Perfect flavour matching and portion sizes just right. The espumante sangria was laden with fruit and neither too sweet nor too fizzy. Desserts were too tempting to miss and, again, just the right size and simple flavour to complement the meal. Be sure to try the lavender cream. Waitress was lovely and friendly but not obtrusive.
Staying for 1 week in Evora, I went three times, twice with a colleague, and we were both equally enthused and inspired by the experience, especially since we also had the possibility to compare with various other lunches and dinners elsewhere. I ordered three times the ceviche and the quality was consistently excellent, the fish absolutely fresh. As a main course we had bacalhao fillet and it was the best we had in Evora. Gazpacho accompanied by a freshly grilled sardine fillet on a big slice of toast with olive oil was an inventive twist to the normal recipe and went well together. Our favourite turned out to be the octopus salad, tasty and saucy, and deserved being called a specialty of the chef. Desert was rather big portions, we took orange cake which was true to its name and tasted fruity and sweet. The vinho verde we had twice was inexpensive and still crispy, aromatic and fresh. Generally we felt that the price/quality ratio was about half that of comparable small restaurants in the city center. The service was old school in the best sense, we got to taste the wine before the glass was fully poured, serving and clearing of plates was swift and unobtrusive. When we had some wine left after the meal, the waitress appeared with charcoal grilled cashews from Mozambique to accompany the rest of the bottle. As to the setting, the restaurant is clean, air conditioned and simply but tastefully furnished.
My partner and I were recommended this restaurant by our host, and we decided to check it out on our last night in Evora. My partner ordered the black pork tenderloin with migas and it was delicious. They even had vegetarian options for me, which is difficult to find in high-end European restaurants. Since the petiscaria is a relatively new dining location, there was no wait to get in. I will absolutely visit again the next time I'm in Evora.
