What Хорижин Doe doesn't like about La Caravelle:
Beaucoup trop chère pour ce que c'est. On était deux on a pris gambas flambées au pastis insipides comme plat principal avec une tomate mozzarella pour deux sans grand intérêt je fait dix fois mieux à la maison. Résultat de la note 109€ à deux avec une bouteille de chablis à 37€. Un véritable scandale. View all feedback.
My wife and I had dinner lately in la caravelle. we were underwhelmed to say the least. I'm making this short. I wanted to ask my wife how she enjoys her meal when I noticed that she saw quite a lot through her calfse. with a steak knife. hard and overcooked. in a similar way my scallops were good. they should not cook a steak to this grade, nor should they do that with scallops. the service was good, and the prices could have been appropriate when eating was properly prepared.
During a short afternoon visit to Evian, La Caravelle seemed to be the only restaurant in the area open at around 16:00. The prices were quite affordable and much cheaper than Laussane across the lake. The service was very prompt and professional and the chicken...dish they had that day was delicous! The meat was incredibly tender and combined with the salad and fries made for an excellent lunch.
We dropped in for dinner as it was one of few restaurants open on a Wednesday around 7 and starting to rain... inside seating is more bar style than restaurant, strange random mode music (lion king followed by electro pop Service was fast and professional,...we chose Beef Tartar (raw), grilled chicken (quite dry), roast beef (cold and good) and flatiron steak (very good). Unfortunately the very nice meat of the tartar (charolais) was totally overpowered by pickles mixed in. All side salads were uninspired and disappointing. Somehow this location is very undecided on what it wants to be: cool bar, trendy bistro or respectable restaurant... like this not to be repeated...
In town for one night with 2 colleagues and worked very late. Came upon this brassiere as one of the few places still open at 9.30pm so we decided to give it a go. The service was friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the complimentary salad...and bread to start then had main courses of lamb, veal and local fish, all of which were excellent. It’s not cheap, but you get what you pay for and we were very happy.
We were in Evian for the day and went to this restaurant for lunch...clean efficient service and good food for it's value. It is in the middle of the town, a kind of Brasserie which serves all kinds of dishes. The filets de perches with...frensh fries vegies and salad was excellent and the service effitient. The waiter friendly and very kind. After hesitating between inside and outside we opted for the latter and didn't regret. I recommend this place for a normal good quality meal with no sofistication.
