The food is not particularly good and feels a bit overpriced, but the convenience is a definite plus.

The breakfast and lunch options at Tech Express have been solid both before and after the Compass takeover, but their reliability is questionable. On any visit during their advertised hours, you might find that they don’t have any food available—it really depends on luck. There have been times when Tech Express has closed unexpectedly without providing any updates online. For those of us in the tech industry who depend on Tech Express for meals, it can often be a source of stress as much as it is a dining option.

That said, I’m giving it 3 stars because I’ve seen Tech Express make an effort to enhance their offerings over the past four years, when they could have easily continued providing just the bare minimum to feed students. Until a year or two ago, their only decent hot food option was hot dogs. Then they introduced Asian rice and noodle bowls, which weren’t perfect but were a definite improvement. Recently, they overhauled the menu, and now their hot food station features Indian cuisine, including meat dishes like chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, and beef stew, along with sides such as naan and samosas. They also offer Asian dishes like fried rice in the refrigerated section. The coffee station has been upgraded with nice milk containers and cold brew options. So, while I would rate the actual food at 2 stars, I’m giving an additional star for their efforts.
