Vegan hush puppies, do I need more? delicious, friendly service with GF options.
I had many vegan replicas of chickens before and cornbread cafe’s chicken and gravy is by far the best. her name cakes are also very good with her maple butter. the makkaroni uncheese was pretty good, but I had better. still it was a fantastic dinner. highly recommended.
The first time I visited the cornbread cafe, was on a road trip years ago. I found a vegan restaurant. it is now one of my favourites to eat! I don't often go through eugen, but if I do, I have to stop at this place every time. everything is delicious, the personal is all so sweet, and I just have to express my gratitude for this fantastic place!
I had read I lot of really good reviews before eating there and I guess I had quite high expectations from this all vegan diner. In reality it wasn’t a pleasant experience, the atmosphere wasn’t nice, we had to order at the counter and the food wasn’t tasty. Vegan Mac and cheese side dish tasted really bad… I’m not sure if this was from the food I ate at the Cornbread Cafe but two hours after eating I started to feel really sick in my stomach and had to throw up..
The Cornbread Cafe in Eugene offers a unique dining experience with its all-vegan comfort food menu. While some guests have mentioned feeling uncomfortable due to the strong and fried nature of the dishes, others have praised the establishment for its delicious offerings. From the Grilled Greens salad to the Chik'n Waffle, there are diverse options for vegan diners. Reviewers loved the deep-fried Tempeh, the chicken and waffles, and the Eugenewich. Despite a few negative reviews regarding the quality of the food and service, the majority of visitors seem to have left satisfied and eager to return for more vegan comfort food. With a cozy and artistic atmosphere, the Cornbread Cafe provides a unique dining experience for vegans and non-vegans alike.

This food was absolutely delicious. It really gives you a full southern feel from the breading of the chik 'n fried tempeh to the 'creamy ' coleslaw. We had a build your own platter to try a bunch of things out and I can 't recommend it enough. To top it off the grilled biscuit with the delectable sweet spread was the icing on the cake of a wonderful meal. Vegetarian options: All vegan Dietary restrictions: All vegan and offers gluten free options. Service: Dine in

I still think about this place ten years later. Wish you would open in Austin Texas. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Delicious food, awesome service, and great outside seating. I’m not vegan and was a bit hesitant but everything tasted great. The fried chicken tasted like sausage and was super well seasoned and yummy. The fries were really over salted though which was disappointing. The ranch was delicious and didn’t taste lacking of buttermilk. Service: Dine in

I just couldn’t not review Cornbread Cafe. Like for so many others, this place was special to me. I used to travel up and down Oregon a lot, and I would always try to stop here when going through Eugene. The Eugenewich was legendary, easily one of the best “burgers” I’ve ever had, especially when they were still putting the crispy carrots on it. And their southern fried tofu still remains the best fried tofu I’ve ever had anywhere. I’m going to miss you, Cornbread Cafe! Thank you for all the delicious and nourishing soul food!
I used to live in Eugene. I almost worked in the back of the house at Cornbread Cafe. I come from a culinary arts background and still love cooking vegetable forward vegan meals. Cornbread is unique in that it does vegan comfort food aka comfort food like sandwiches and sides very well. I recently went here with some friends. We enjoyed our meal. I am a big fan of Reubens and here they do it right. Perhaps a touch heavy. They use seitan for the protein aka wheat protein which I am fine with yet prefer tempeh Reubens. Still all in all it was quite alright and got it with a side of mashed taters and gravy. My friend got a French dip sandwich with fries. That she enjoyed. Her sister went with the southern fried tofu and cauliflower wings. I tried the latter. It was tasty yet was breaded and deep fried. I think Cornbread Cafe is good for vegan comfort food to enjoy on occasion when not following my regular whole food plant based aka vegan diet. Recommended to give a try in the area. Great staff, convenient location, outstanding menu and great tasting everything.
Cornbread Cafe was nothing short of delicious!! Loved their little diner style. We chose the hush puppies, cauliflower wings, and Ruben. Also got a side of cornbread because it felt like a must. We were not disappointed. Unfortunately they were out of ice cream that day and we couldn't try the milkshakes.

Love this place. Many great meals and terrific service over the past couple of years. I have always found vegetarian and vegan food in particular highly suspect. Had I known this was a vegan restaurant, I probably wouldn 't have tried it, but it was nearly 9 at night early in the week and almost nothing was open. The lights were on, so we wandered in. Once we saw the menu, we considered bolting for the door, but the staff was super welcoming and things smelled good, so we gave it a try. Lo and behold, this has become one of our quirky Eugene favorites. I 've tried most things on the menu and everything has been really good. The moody portabella and the chicken-fried tempeh are my favorites, the bloke likes the eugenewich. Does it taste like the 'meat ' version would? Absolutely not, but it is delicious down-home southern food. Get a side of greens, maybe two, they 're awesome.
This is a necessary stop I build into trips when I head south... I love the biscuits and gravy and the eggfu most of all, I think. It 's hard to find a vegan breakfast gravy that 's salty and 'meaty ' (most are mushroom or inexplicably white and bland), but Cornbread figured it out! Hands down my favorite breakfast place...too bad it 's 2 hours away!
Great vegan food and service. So glad we made the drive, totally worth it. Perks* I didn’t have to wait an hour in line for voodoo vegan donuts
Probably the best vegan breakfast anywhere in town, plus they have amazing desserts made by the most wonderful vegan baker in the Pacific Northwest. Highly recommend!!
I wish Cornbread Cafe was In Corvallis ;Wink, Wink; 2nd opening? Seriously though, It's totally worth the 50 min Drive for this Amazing food. We moved here from Norcal and there are a ton of vegan places in the bay area, Berkeley and further north. But I have to say Cornbread Cafe is My FAVORITE eatery, everything I've tried has been delicious, the staff are friendly and even on busy days it's totally worth the wait. My hubby and 2 teenage boys are quite fond of the burgers, where my ultimate fave is the Fried Tempeh, with mashed potatoes and gravy. Oh and The desserts ... the BOMB! And Explosion of Yummyness in my mouth, Yes Please !!

How have I never reviewed Cornbread Cafe before? +1 star for being all vegan (even since back in the day before anyone else was) +1 star for having brunch all day (love that so much) +1 star for the nicest customer service +1 star for having a dog friendly patio +1 star for having self service water so I can drink as much as I want without being super annoying I always order the biscuits and gravy with the white sausage gravy because it's SO GOOD. The mashed potatoes and gravy are also good. The side of kale is often not kale and instead other greens like chard or spinach. Just to warn you if you had your heart set on kale. The fries are good. The burgers are good. The rueben is good. I just think they probably don't have anything bad on the menu. I recommend ordering it to go and having a picnic at Monroe Park.
My review about the food here varies from other reviews on Yelp because I did takeout. I ordered the fried tempeh and gravy. I like how it didn't taste like tempeh but the gravy is too thick. I don't like the texture and feel like there is a lack of flavor. The Mac and cheese was also bland and the corn bread was dry.
