Great vegan comfort food spot! The fried chicken has the classic crunchy, satisfying breading that totally evokes the real thing, the cashew gravy is outstanding, and the breakfast burrito stuffed with bacon , eggs and fries is sooo delicious. Vegetarian options: Everything here is vegan! Dietary restrictions: Everything here is vegan, but they also offer gluten free substitutions on a lot of items. Service: Dine in View all feedback.

What Paula Carter dislikes about Cornbread Cafe:

Yes, eating (from a small menu) is pretty good, but. it is also comfort food that sometimes makes me feel uncomfortable. as in, it is very strong / fried / fat, and can feel hard afterwards. Believe me, I'm glad it's vegan and I'm glad it's here. I wish they had more fresh vegetables and so on offer. that would be more comfort too little ol' vegan me. View all feedback.

Two stars for the workers that seem nice and tried. We came in and there were samples by the front and the nice worker at front offered us some, then who I imagine was the owner came and snatched them right in front of us. Then we ordered our $8 milkshakes which came out melted and watery. We asked to have them remade and again a little better but still came out as like a watery smoothie consistency. This place used to be amazing and the last 3 times we have went it's been extremely disappointing. offering us something else or a refund if the machine wasn't working or whatever was happening would have been nice.

I just couldn’t not review Cornbread Cafe. Like for so many others, this place was special to me. I used to travel up and down Oregon a lot, and I would always try to stop here when going through Eugene. The Eugenewich was legendary, easily one of the best “burgers” I’ve ever had, especially when they were still putting the crispy carrots on it. And their southern fried tofu still remains the best fried tofu I’ve ever had anywhere. I’m going to miss you, Cornbread Cafe! Thank you for all the delicious and nourishing soul food!

I used to live in Eugene. I almost worked in the back of the house at Cornbread Cafe. I come from a culinary arts background and still love cooking vegetable forward vegan meals. Cornbread is unique in that it does vegan comfort food aka comfort food like sandwiches and sides very well. I recently went here with some friends. We enjoyed our meal. I am a big fan of Reubens and here they do it right. Perhaps a touch heavy. They use seitan for the protein aka wheat protein which I am fine with yet prefer tempeh Reubens. Still all in all it was quite alright and got it with a side of mashed taters and gravy. My friend got a French dip sandwich with fries. That she enjoyed. Her sister went with the southern fried tofu and cauliflower wings. I tried the latter. It was tasty yet was breaded and deep fried. I think Cornbread Cafe is good for vegan comfort food to enjoy on occasion when not following my regular whole food plant based aka vegan diet. Recommended to give a try in the area. Cornbread Cafe was nothing short of delicious!! Loved their little diner style. We chose the hush puppies, cauliflower wings, and Ruben. Also got a side of cornbread because it felt like a must. We were not disappointed. Unfortunately they were out of ice cream that day and we couldn't try the milkshakes.

It has a very homey feel with a really kind staff. The food was incredibly high quality and very tasty. The milkshake was un-freaking-believable. I was only in Eugene for 2 days and I ate here both days. I wish I had plans to be in OR soon. I miss this place lol.

How have I never reviewed Cornbread Cafe before? +1 star for being all vegan (even since back in the day before anyone else was) +1 star for having brunch all day (love that so much) +1 star for the nicest customer service +1 star for having a dog friendly patio +1 star for having self service water so I can drink as much as I want without being super annoying I always order the biscuits and gravy with the white sausage gravy because it's SO GOOD. The mashed potatoes and gravy are also good. The side of kale is often not kale and instead other greens like chard or spinach. Just to warn you if you had your heart set on kale. The fries are good. The burgers are good. The rueben is good. I just think they probably don't have anything bad on the menu. I recommend ordering it to go and having a picnic at Monroe Park.

My review about the food here varies from other reviews on Yelp because I did takeout. I ordered the fried tempeh and gravy. I like how it didn't taste like tempeh but the gravy is too thick. I don't like the texture and feel like there is a lack of flavor. The Mac and cheese was also bland and the corn bread was dry.

Your restaurant has a wonderful name. It drew us in. However, we are not vegan. I had hoped to find a menu with a couple of items that I could eat. But I could not.

Love this place. Many great meals and terrific service over the past couple of years. I have always found vegetarian and vegan food in particular highly suspect. Had I known this was a vegan restaurant, I probably wouldn 't have tried it, but it was nearly 9 at night early in the week and almost nothing was open. The lights were on, so we wandered in. Once we saw the menu, we considered bolting for the door, but the staff was super welcoming and things smelled good, so we gave it a try. Lo and behold, this has become one of our quirky Eugene favorites. I 've tried most things on the menu and everything has been really good. The moody portabella and the chicken-fried tempeh are my favorites, the bloke likes the eugenewich. Does it taste like the 'meat ' version would? Absolutely not, but it is delicious down-home southern food. Get a side of greens, maybe two, they 're awesome.

This is a necessary stop I build into trips when I head south... I love the biscuits and gravy and the eggfu most of all, I think. It 's hard to find a vegan breakfast gravy that 's salty and 'meaty ' (most are mushroom or inexplicably white and bland), but Cornbread figured it out! Hands down my favorite breakfast place...too bad it 's 2 hours away!

Probably the best vegan breakfast anywhere in town, plus they have amazing desserts made by the most wonderful vegan baker in the Pacific Northwest. Highly recommend!!

I wish Cornbread Cafe was In Corvallis ;Wink, Wink; 2nd opening? Seriously though, It's totally worth the 50 min Drive for this Amazing food. We moved here from Norcal and there are a ton of vegan places in the bay area, Berkeley and further north. But I have to say Cornbread Cafe is My FAVORITE eatery, everything I've tried has been delicious, the staff are friendly and even on busy days it's totally worth the wait. My hubby and 2 teenage boys are quite fond of the burgers, where my ultimate fave is the Fried Tempeh, with mashed potatoes and gravy. Oh and The desserts ... the BOMB! And Explosion of Yummyness in my mouth, Yes Please !!

Greta little place in Eugene. My friends from massage school and I headed here for a celebratory lunch. Great place for those who are more on the vegetarian and vegan side of eating. I had the Chik'n Biscuit Chik'n-fried seitan and agave Dijon dressing on a split and grilled biscuit. I also had a side of Cajun fries. Everything was tasty and next time I’ll ask for a little extra sauce as I enjoyed it for my fries and biscuit.

Fabulous fries!! I love the combinations and options of vegan comfort food. I was surprised a few months back when they completely redid the menu, but I've been pleasantly surprised by anything I try there. Dine in or take out, whatever works. There's outdoor tables as well. Public restrooms accessible. I love the style and personality of the shop. Highly recommend. Watch out though, they are closed on Mondays.

This place is a gem! Even my meat eating family was in love with the vegan comfort food served up here! The Eugenewich was super flavorful! My sister's chicken and cornbread with hush puppies were great too!

I just woven!!!! I stopped here on the way back from Portland and I still wish if this has a franchise in the Bay Area. So good for vegetarian and vegan people, you can order what you want and do not have to worry about the ingredients.

This wonderful little comfort food diner is where you need to let your non-plant-based friends see how vegan is done! It is the kind of food experience that I personally love, but especially for this moment when someone with you- does not expect vegan that good stops after the first bite, opens their eyes wide, and says: No. Move. We shared the breakfast Burrito with a cinnamon of seasoned sweet potatoes, and the Eugenewich- a tofu plate covered with veggie sauce and cheese on a roasted Brioche beer. Had to have the side of Jojo 's, and chose the Agave Dijon for diving. All flavors were great, looking forward to some other options on our next trip through Eugene. I don't think we tried the grain bread!
