We found this little restaurant when searching for something different to eat around Sherway Gardens after shopping. The owner was really nice and the food was really different and delicious! We tried the fermented tea leave salad which was really good, we tried also the chicken coconut noodle salad and the eggplant stirfry and the beef curry and chicken curry. I loved the Royal Myanmar. Small, quiet, clean, with good quality home cooked meals and helpful staff. I had read other reviews of this restaurant and was excited to try Burmese food, which I have never had before. And I was happy and impressed. I ordered the coconut, chicken, noodle dish which came with soup, and Burmese tea, and I also had dessert. The food was very flavourful, a rich combination of flavours that were both familiar and unique. If I had to describe it to someone also unfamiliar, I would say it most closely resembles a combination of thai curry and chinese. It was very mild, and had a great combination of textures as well. They owner was very helpful because I didn't know how to eat it, and she kindly explained that I should not pour the soup into it (which I wouldn't have done but could appreciate some might), and that I should mix everything together first in my bowl and then eat it, which was actually very helpful because it mixed the textures together. I loved the tea, which was maybe a green tea? with a woody, earthy taste. Anyway, the portions were a perfect size and I will definitely be back. In fact, this will probably be my new go-to place for lunch whenever I work in the area. I'd like to try as many things on the menu as I can.
I did takeout so can't comment on service, but I can say this much: I lived in Myanmar for more than three years, and the food on offer at this lovely family-run place is 100% authentic - easily the best Burmese food I've had outside Myanmar itself. It's not watered-down, Westernised or compromised by inauthentic ingredients - the food is every bit as good as one would find at a well-regarded Burmese restaurant in Yangon (or, better yet, what you'd find served at someone's home, which is what this place feels like). This should in no way put you off: Burmese food is pretty accessible and easy to grasp for less adventurous palates. We had the beef curry, eggplant thoke, shwe taung khauk swe, and laphet thoke - all of which were pretty much exactly what you would get in Myanmar itself. Very highly recommended - despite the odd location, this place is very much worth seeking out.

I really enjoy food and this place was different and a good alternative. The service was really good and the owner was very friendly and happy to recommend dishes and chat with us. I will definitely go back to this place. The decor is not fancy and in a little strip mall off the beaten path. So don't expect a fancy restaurant but the dishes were very reasonably priced.
One of our friend Burmese send us there. The food was great, it's a different taste vs the traditional Asian food. The owner was great. I'll probably go back if I'm in the Toronto area.
Located on a barren stretch of road in South Etobicoke this is a restaurant you can and should go out of your way for.Stopping in for lunch, I had the spicy lime chicken served with vegetables and rice. The veggies aren't the typical steamed **** you usually get with a meal like this. They were a mix of cabbage, sprouts, onion, carrot and a green (not exactly sure which one) and covered with fried shallots. The chicken (dark meat) came in a rich lime-tinged sauce and covered with fresh cilantro. The heat was subtle but present.I used every grain of rice to mop up the remaining sauce.Service was friendly and the meal was very reasonable. $10 flat after tax. Will definitely return!
