Junction - Essex
Junction
Description
Set within a posh hotel on lovely grounds, this destination restaurant serves ambitious, beautifully plated steaks, pork, duck and seafood—best enjoyed from the chef’s table or the open kitchen. Wine, beer and a solid appetizer lineup complement standout dishes like the tomahawk and Iberian pork. Service and consistency are hit-or-miss: attentive, knowledgeable teams often impress, but some guests report slow, inattentive service and an isolated bad scallop batch. Slightly pricey and parking can be tricky, yet it remains a worthwhile treat for special occasions.

If you are looking for a destination restaurant, I recommend Junction. The food is excellent. The iberian pork was one of the most tender and flavorful meals I have had in a long time. We also had the duck and the strip steak and both were excellent. With the open kitchen, if you are at the chef table, you can watch the care that goes into each plate. Service: Dine in
While our appetizers and salad were good, the entrees simply were not. Everything lacked seasoning. The chimichurri was so vinegary you couldn’t eat it and my partner had to wipe it off their food. The chicken meal my mom and sister got was barely seasoned and had 2 broccoli florets on it, that’s all. The plate was massive chunks of chicken and the sides that came with it were barely there. For an average of $45-$50/entree, this meal was not at all worth it. Service was slow, but I wouldn’t have minded if the food was good.
Foodies beware! We had a bad experience. We made special reservations at the chef 's table and were expecting the interactive experience advertised and hoped this would be one of the highlights of our week-long vacation. Instead, we were sat at the open kitchen in front of a hot grill right by the end of the counter which had a bunch of kitchen junk and dead flowers. None of the chefs spoke to us, except the short order cook in front of us who we tried to engage with and that couldn 't answer any questions we had. It was completely like normal service at any other establishment and unremarkable. If we 'd known, we would have just sat at a regular table. The worst part was the open kitchen station we were in front of was very dirty with several flies circling the food prep area. The food we ordered was good, but not quite at the level we were expecting from a culinary resort. Very, very disappointing.

Excellent food and service. Great local VT cheese board, perfectly cooked and prepared pork tenderloin, homemade pasta, fresh vegetables etc. Great cocktails and wine beer selections. Highly recommend sitting at the chefs table to watch the food being prepared and chat with the Chefs when they have a moment to spare. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
