Was Brian Vargo at Junction a mag?
Junction is the Pinnacle experience in the culinary resort known as Essex Junction. We have been many times now, and while pricey, the food is always excellent and the service is usually good. You will get items here that you will be hard-pressed to even find in other restaurants in surrounding Vermont. Their chef Nicole is top-notch and super friendly, and Patrick Cooks meat like nobody else. Sit at the chef 's tabl... View all feedback.
What Abby French dislikes about Junction:
While our appetizers and salad were good, the entrees simply were not. Everything lacked seasoning. The chimichurri was so vinegary you couldn’t eat it and my partner had to wipe it off their food. The chicken meal my mom and sister got was barely seasoned and had 2 broccoli florets on it, that’s all. The plate was massive chunks of chicken and the sides that came with it were barely there. For an average of $45-$50/... View all feedback.
If you are looking for a destination restaurant, I recommend Junction. The food is excellent. The iberian pork was one of the most tender and flavorful meals I have had in a long time. We also had the duck and the strip steak and both were excellent. With the open kitchen, if you are at the chef table, you can watch the care that goes into each plate. Service: Dine in

Foodies beware! We had a bad experience. We made special reservations at the chef 's table and were expecting the interactive experience advertised and hoped this would be one of the highlights of our week-long vacation. Instead, we were sat at the open kitchen in front of a hot grill right by the end of the counter which had a bunch of kitchen junk and dead flowers. None of the chefs spoke to us, except the short order cook in front of us who we tried to engage with and that couldn 't answer any questions we had. It was completely like normal service at any other establishment and unremarkable. If we 'd known, we would have just sat at a regular table. The worst part was the open kitchen station we were in front of was very dirty with several flies circling the food prep area. The food we ordered was good, but not quite at the level we were expecting from a culinary resort. Very, very disappointing.
