They use roast pork instead of pork belly, and the crackling is more like dust with no crunch at all. The pickled carrot was the standout feature of the roll. As for the sushi, it was just okay.

The staff at the counter... read more Ookii Sushi is our favorite lunch spot in Essendon. Not only is the sushi absolutely delicious, but the service is exceptional as well. The staff at the counter always go above and beyond to assist us, treat my kids with extra dim sims and hot chocolates, and engage in friendly conversations. It's definitely the friendliest service you'll find in Essendon. Compared to other sushi places in the area, they simply don't measure up, and their offerings are far inferior. The sushi at Ookii Sushi rivals anything I've had in Japan (having visited several times, I can say this with confidence), so I can't recommend it highly enough. It's a fantastic place for a quick lunch, and you can also conveniently place orders through Menulog for fast pick-up, which we do frequently. I give it five stars—an EXCELLENT dining experience!
