Chez Anna et Jean is a small family hotel in a suburb of Luxembourg. You can reach it from Luxembourg Gare by bus in 7 minutes or on foot in about half an hour. It has a nostalgic touch and you feel a bit like the Grandma, but everything was working well. My room was right under the roof (3rd floor). There is no elevator in the house so that a move with large luggage is a little uncomfortable. Breakfast is served to your table – rolls, croissant, honey, jam, cheese and cold meat in single portions, coffee or tea, juice. Anna is very nice and speaks German, English, French.... and maybe more. The hotel is highly recommended for a stay in Luxembourg.

The place is old, but clean and homey. One way to experience living in a Luxembourg house. The host is friendly. The breakfast is basic,still we had a happy full tummy. Just a few steps away from the bus stop.

In the suburbs of Luxemburg, in a street riddled with restaurants, you can find Chez Anna et Jean, a small family hotel. It has three floors, ten rooms, no elevator. The interior is dated but charming, the rooms are basic but clean, the host Anna is talkative, hospitable and utterly caring. The hotel is easy to reach by car and public transport, offers free parking, the breakfast is simple but more than sufficient. If you like staying with local people and have little needs but you do like having facilities (a supermarket, bus stop, place to eat) nearby, this is a good choice for you. If you prefer staying at all-in hotels, with professional, serviceable but distant staff members and you prefer things like air-conditioning, a coffee-maker and a hair dryer in your room, then you should probably book a different hotel.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a European motorbike tour, the small car park to the rear was very much appreciated as somewhere to park the bikes. Easy to find, and a very warm welcome on arrival from Anna who was very helpful with info about local buses and where to go in the centre. She even coped admirably with our daft questions about language and customs in Luxembourg. As previous reviewers have mentioned, yes the fittings and décor are a little tired, but clean and comfortable, and to be honest, this really is reflected in the prices charged. We’d asked for extra pillows as part of the booking process, having experienced the European pancakes before, and they were waiting for us. Our room was on the second floor to the front and there was loads of space to spread out our bike kit and bags. Yes the traffic could be heard, but when we shut the windows it wasn’t a problem, and if we left them open, my earplugs (which are a must on any foreign trip) did the trick. The continental breakfast set us up for the days sightseeing, and what was a nice surprise was that the bread/cakes provided were different for our second morning. At the end of the day it was nice to sit out on the roof terrace planning what we were going to do the next day. Location wise, it was about 30-40 minutes walk into the centre. Anna had told us about local buses, but after a long day on the bikes, it was nice to stretch our legs, and gave us the chance to eyeball bars and restaurants on the way in. We dined in the Italian next door on day 1 which was excellent, and at the Thai restaurant down the road on day 2, which was OK. We also found a nice bar nearby where we could sit outside as the weather was incredibly warm while we were there. There were plenty of eating places on the walk in to town, and many appeared very popular. If you are looking for a good value well situated and welcoming hotel to stay in, then this is for you. If you prefer the soulless state-of-the-art modern places, then this isn’t for you, so you’d be better off heading into town and pay accordingly!

There is no lift in the house, so moving in with big luggage is a bit inconvenient. Breakfast is served to your table – rolls, croissant, honey, marmalade, cheese and cold meat in single portions, coffee or tea, juice. Anna is very nice and speaks German, English, French …. and maybe more. The good connection to the city and the reasonable price makes the hotel very recommendable for a stay in Luxemburg.
