Service eher schnippisch. Daher besser Finger weg. Man legt hier auf Gäste keinen Wert.
General Up to the Kellerberg, into the wide Laubwald. This is where Forchheimers can be taken care of. 24 cellar farms invite you to return east of Forchheim. Under the canopy of the oak and beech forest, the path leads the cozy hiker up the slope in three floors. With approximately 30,000 seats, the Forchheimer Kellerwald is probably the largest beer garden in the world. The mountain is traversed by a far branched and deep into the sandstone leading system of beer cellars, which since the 16th. The century was driven by the local breweries in the mountain, where the Forchheim breweries used to store their beer. Today, the 10 upper and 14 lower beer cellars are only beer and are no longer used to ripen the beer. Beer and Franconian specialties are offered in the local cellars, which were furnished at the entrances of the storage cellars and are partly open all year round. One of these cellars is the Rappen cellar. The Kellerberg is easily reachable on foot half a hour from the city. Large parking spaces are also available at the foot of the mountain. Free parking is also available for coaches and campers. Ambience In the small guest room of the Rappenkeller there are 30 cozy seats inside with a circular wooden bench. A round table must not be missing here. Gingerbread hearts on the wall are received in the entrance area. The Gaststube itself was decorated with old taps above the door, with two horse mugs in the corners, old sheet metal advertising signs and a cuckoo clock. On the tables there are candles in small one-piece glasses and tulip vases. If you have to go to the toilet, go outside and climb the Kellerberg. Service The service is mastered by a fleeting service alone. Only two more ladies are standing in the kitchen, that's all that the rug needs and it runs. What would be the cellar farms without their lively bread times. Therefore we also chose the basement plate with red and white press bag, goddess ham, sausage, cheese, cucumbers and peasant bread with butter (6,20€). Also the typical Franconian Zieberlaskäse with bread (4.80 €) was selected by us and found for good. A bit untypical for Franken but also very tasty the sheep cheese tasted with Tsatsiki, Krautsalat and Baguette (6,20 €). Conclusion: “Up” the cellar – up to the Kellerberg. Cool beer from Forchheim breweries and inexpensive Franconian cuisine.
Admittedly, you must be Franconian rustic to visit the Rappenkeller. Especially in winter when the operation is continued in the small guest room. Due to the large tables and the many regular guests, it is very family-friendly and not suitable for an intimate/private meal/ meeting. In summer or in good weather everything plays outside on the beer cellar. There you sit under the many trees. In addition to Franconian specialities such as Bratwurst, Fleischküchle and Ziebalaskäs, the map also offers curry sausage and salad. The price of performance is very good considering that the carpet cellar refers to its sausages and meat products from a local butcher. The service (usually two girls is absolutely top. Always friendly and always on Zack! Unfortunately, I have to take a point for one or the other outbreaks of the Lord. Make the Rappenkeller somehow unhappy... Conclusion: We always like to come for food and drink and recommend the Rappenkeller for a nice summer day for everyone who wants to enjoy the Upper Franconian beer cellar culture!
