A little remark about the wines not following the overall quality of the food (I tried only some of them and not the most expensive).

My wife and I were staying at the hotel, so took the opportunity to eat in the restaurant to save driving into town, and we were glad that we did. After a whisk... read more My wife and I were staying at the hotel, so took the opportunity to eat in the restaurant to save driving into town, and we were glad that we did. After a whisky aperitif on the garden terrace, we were shown to our table in the conservatory restaurant, and looked after very well by the friendly staff. With several differently priced menus to choose from, we each plumped for the 30 euro one. My wife had the king prawns starter (flambeed at the table) while I had the carpaccio of beef with pear sorbet. We each had a beautifully cooked steak with vegetables with which we enjoyed an excellent claret chosen from the extensive wine list, and for dessert my wife opted for the opera cake while I enjoyed my baked alaska (again flambeed at the table). A delicious coffee from the extensive coffee menu completed an enjoyable and memorable meal.

Then it was downhill, service was slow and orders mixed-up..For instance I asked for vegetable instead of rice. When the meal arrived it had rice, I pointed this out and after a while some fried up potatoes arrived. Plus the meal was meant to be Salmon, cod and scallops in a sauce. Scallops 4 cod and salmon that had to be hunted for.... Should have been called Cod Stew!. Dessert was the best part of the menu. Overall, I would not rush back
