Great place for Sichuan style meal. Hot pot is also available. Free customer car park in front. Surprisingly clean and brightly lit place for Chinese restaurant : . Very good value for money. Recommended

Located just off Kent St in Newmarket, this Sichuan restaurant was bustling with customers enjoying steampot on a Friday evening when we stopped by. Instead of following the crowd, we decided to order from their a la carte menu. The standout dish for us was the 毛血旺, a classic example of Sichuan cuisine known for its numbingly spicy flavor and rich red soup. Served with blood curd, luncheon meat, intestines, bean sprouts, and diced vegetables in a flavorful broth, the dish's heat came from garlic, dried chili, and Sichuan pepper. The silky smooth texture of the blood curd, rich in protein and minerals, made it a standout ingredient. We thoroughly enjoyed the hearty and spicy flavors of Sichuan cuisine, just be sure to ask for mild spice if you can't handle the heat!

This restaurant used to be a regular go-to for me when I was in Newmarket. I mostly stuck to the A10 lunch special because I loved the flavor and value. The prices and portion sizes have changed over time, which is expected with the rising cost of living. I've probably had over 50 meals here, most of them with friends. I will definitely miss this place now that I've moved away from Auckland.
