Amazing Mother’s Day dinner! With a fresh refurb the place has a lovely warm feel to it with great views over the water. The highlight without a doubt though was the food, which is possibly the best pub food I’ve enjoyed for quite some time. Huge perfectly cooked roast dinner and succulent steaks were all just perfect and so tasty, as were the desserts. It is on the pricier side, but great value given the quality. View all feedback.
What Hubertus Ludwig doesn't like about The Fish & Eels:
The ambience is quite lovely, but unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. My party of two was seated on the porch overlooking the river on a rainy Monday. I am unsure if the... View all feedback.
After we had visited the fish eels for a lunch week during the summer and a nice time we had thrilled to take friends again. how disappointed we were. we went on a Saturday night, expected it really busy and were surprised to find the place quite empty. we sat very fast and drinks brought by and that was the fastest service we had all night. do not misunderstand me, the serving staff were really friendly and tried their best, but I think they always forget about us how to go and ask for objects a few times. we ordered the mezze of the Sharing plates and asked for mezze for 4. When this arrived, it was a Sharing plate for 2, which the waitress thought we would share between 4! so another one was ordered quickly, but this took at least 10 minutes to get out, ok this shows it is fresh made, so can not really complain that, but the warm pittas and objects on the other plate ran cold while we waited for the other. Once we finished our ancestors, the waitress arrived to delete the tellers that told us our nets were ready and asked if we wanted to stop them. not to desire food that must be kept more than likely warm, we said to bring it out directly. the chips were cold and had to be returned. the sweet thing that came with him was just about warm. I ordered king linguine from the special menu and when this arrived the portion size was tiny, I asked if it was an initial size that should be said that this was the normal size. the waitress said she would ask if something could be done, and my partner offered to pay for each extra if that was the problem. to be fair, they have the part above and no additional fees. when our desserts finally arrived (we had to remind them that we were still there) the eton mess was exactly what a chaos no fruits as indicated in the menu! we received free coffee as an excuse for the bad meal. unfortunately we will not return.
No recording of our booking, crocheted on another table without table service. Nobody seemed to know what they did. eating was standard, nothing special. looks like he's gone. beer was flat and tasteless! the waitress who took my cash order, but was really nice! except that. was okay!
A great experience! the eating lasted too long, the personal is unfriendly and many things on the menu were actually not available, but there was no mention of it anywhere. it is my second visit there and the first time was disappointing. the only good was the beautiful location
We have a table for the holiday booked Monday, first pub I have ever entered, and there were two lines of people who are silent for drinks, so no good start! waited for 20 minutes until we were shown on our table and said waitress would be over to order drinks, waited 25 minutes and not wait waitress and no drink order! we were then told about the nice family on the table next to us that they were short workers, the menu was limited, as sold out allies and they had waited 2 and half an hour for their main course! so that we went and went elsewhere, like a few other tables, had been in this restaurant at numerous places and left very happy, but not this time, my advice will tell their customers, their short staff and the waiting time for eating and that the menu was limited not only sitting and forgetting them about them, never again in a bank holiday!
Not impressed with having to initially pay parking. Understand it is returned and taken off the final bill, but if you have to go out and extend your stay, your food could be brought to your table and it would end up cold. You also have to break off a conversation which does not help the ambience. It would make me think twice about returning Thanks Jacki Paton
